It is a feeling of the divine presence when the clouds break at dusk after many endless days of darkness. Flat black shapes of the trees and the mountains pasted to the illuminated white horizon seem like the setting to a children’s puppet show. The supreme drama of the sun’s rays cut and shine with great warmth through the frosty mist. Is this the same heat found under a bride’s veil before her wedded kiss? Yes, the golden light reflects the trumpet’s tone of these chosen souls. Their beauty is as fragile and sacred as this winter dusk. The joy is simply a teasing taste of what heaven is like beyond this virginal shroud of the temporal. The hope of their lasting love as observed by humanity is interrupted as heads turn to watch a gust of snow blow cross the barren field. We are reminded of the hellish nightmare of the soulless specters dragging the weight of their sins through eternity. After the sun sets, the darkness always returns.
