    Hi,how are you?

Happy to hear that the book is writing through you. Rather better it not be otherwise. I've heard that keeping firm plans too is good, then with the rest of your time take a holiday to play, delight in things, or do the washing, with a notebook handy.

Mad? The 'sane' are just fooling themselves.
Ah...A book. Fiction/nonfiction? What is the question that seeks to bookify itself? Is the book planning itself well overall?

"Beware of first- hand ideas!" exclaimed one of the most advanced of them. "First-hand ideas do not really exist. They are but the physical impressions produced by live and fear, and on this gross foundation who could erect a philosophy? Let your ideas be second-hand, and if possible tenth-hand, for then they will be far removed from that disturbing element - direct observation. these are some words, from EM Forster. I'm here on and off, yes.

the first night I lost Skippy, i went up to my room and for a second i saw her still in her nest. It's not like I was imagining her still there, I wasn't thinking or expecting anything and there she was! Everything you said, it's true! And my ears also pick up on sounds they make...
  8. Hi hack, Sorry I honestly can't remember his origins. From what I have heard though he was a fairly argumentative chap There is a plaque on the wall of the cottage where he used to live but I don't know how long he lived there. Incidentally not far from Oreston, TE Laurence Also had a home, briefly, in Turnchapple, another little village. Between the wars when he shunned the attention/notoriety of his desert exploits, he was serving as Aircraftman Shaw at RAF Mountbatten on Plymouth Sound.
  9. Just thought I'd mention that Alexander Selkirk lived in a cottage not far from where I live, in a village called Oreston in Devon. H

What's the answer to my birth?
When's the time to pierce the earth?

Where's the hand to hold the spade?
At whose feet are empires laid?

Who's the man to dig my grave?
Which is monarch, which the slave?

Foam spray springs skyward
from a ragged wind torn sea,
churned to lace
by gods more ancient

only the silence remains

by hack on 08-18-2010 at 10:59 AM
where glacier greets sea
the crashing, calving flow
gives voice to every storm
that added to its stream,
replies to each stone
overturned by groaning ice,
and rings with echoes
of the shearing squeal of
rock etching rock

then asea,
as centuries bob
in new disquiet,
ice becomes the sea,
and melts into
the depths
of its own
silence

Flew the Nest

by hack on 07-06-2010 at 12:13 AM
This morning at about 8 AM the two hummingbird
fledglings at the front door left their nest. We have been watching them closely, even before they hatched. The serendipity of the placement of the nest, on a chain hanging from a reflective plate at the entryway, has allowed us to peek into the nest at will. The young birds were incredibly tiny when they hatched. They grew steadily at first, then in a short period of about three days, they went through a growth spurt, and they were gone. We

The Gospel According to Skeeter (Book II)

Paying the Toll

Skeet and me in the last pew
listenin' to some trash
somethin' bout our savior
and givin' up our cash

We just have two nickles
Skeet says give em one
I tell Skeeter ten percent
is the way I heard it's done

Skeeter says you can't make change
when they pass the plate
so he leaves a nickle
to get us through the gate

I tell Skeet it might be fine
if we was
