My grandfather gave those speeches in about 1940-1943. He may not have known everything if the U.S. didn't. I think when he found out, he didn't really believe it either. He was a very good speaker, although an alcoholic and never successful, he came across as very educated and well spoken. Scary- he taught me how to play chess. He and my father would play chess, and after a few beers my GF would want to talk about the "Jewish problem".
My father would have none of it.

Thanks KCurtis. Was your grandfather German or did he just support Hitler out of shared politics? It doesn't make those speeches he gave okay, but I don't think they knew the full extent or even the half of the holocaust over here in Canada at the time.

That means a lot Darcy!! I hope you do write a book, you can do it. I am passionate regarding the Hitler topic because my grandparents escaped the Russian Revolution, but they were for the Czar, and wealthy. My grandfather was anti-Jewish, and my grandmother went along. My grandfather was interned in Canada for making pro-Nazi speeches.

Aaaah Don't tell me that! I'm going to be in Van in August, and I hate rain on accounta it makes my glassses spotty! We've only really had two big snow dumps this winter, but both times it lasted about a week and left maybe three feet on the ground, which is good. It's been dry the rest of the winter, which is bad because that means forest fire season is going to be intense which sucks for me on accounta my asthma (I have a suprising number of the stock "geeky" traits, actually - asthma, glasses, allergies, ect.).

My car is a Pontiac Vibe (great on gas) and I love the little thing to pieces. It even has a 110 v outlet which is useful, and you can pack a lot in it.
