Actually, I just checked and we are. Unless you meant Facebook? Which is also totally fine.

Yes, those threads, which will be a daily series, are meant to be satirical.

And of course you can send me a friend request. Actually. I'll send you one. I'm quite surprised we aren't.

Idril and I appreciate your kind words. For whatever reason, many of the regulars here at the forum seem reluctant to comment on our relationship, so it's always nice to hear some positive reinforcement.

He's doing great Paul. I've been very busy myself between work and Matthew. I have at least one blog you might have missed on Matthew. Just go through my blog list. That sounds wonderful for your son and daughter. It should be quite an experience for him. I have a work acquaintance who's daughter got to spend a year in Japan for school. I can't remember what she was taking up. But my friend said it was a very good experience for her. Hope you have a great 2012.

Glad you are liking the kindle. I love mine too. I found myself reading a lot more because of it.

I picked up the bike today. I didn't bother yesterday because of the heavy rain, though it was still raining today but not quite as bad. I only rode it about 4/5 mile back from the shop but I love it already. It's so smooth and easy to ride and looks great too. Yes the wheel size and set up is just much more practical than the racer so it had to go. Looking forward to getting off road on a few trails in the spring as well. I think the hybrid offers the perfect balance between road and trail so it is the bike for me.

Hey, I'm picking this bike up tomorrow, a Trek hybrid:
    http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/nqp-u...e-id67025.html

I've been after a hybrid since the summer as my racer is just not becoming practical anymore. It's a bargain really as they are knocking over a hundred quid off just because it has got a few scratches on the top bar. I know it's a decent bike as well. I went to pick it up today but it wasn't ready as it is being moved from the Chesterfield branch, so I ended up waiting for it in town drinking coffee and reading. I was a bit annoyed because they said it would be there, but it's just one of those things, hopefully it will be ready tomorrow anyway.

Holiday in Seville

by Paulclem on 08-11-2014 at 01:26 PM
It's the first holiday abroad in a number of years and I'm here in Seville with my son who is 22 in order to reinvigorate his interest in Spanish and open the possibility to him of working in this culture as an option.

I think it has worked. He loves the city and often takes off wandering around the place for hours. (My irritating company might also provoke this too, but I remain upbeat).

I like the city too. We went on a river cruise today past the Moorish Gold Tower

Drama on the Green

by Paulclem on 08-26-2011 at 08:19 PM
About three weeks ago I was walking my Jack Russell as usual on the Green near our house and I noticed a crow hopping about the field. There had been quite a few crows about the field this year, with at least two couples producing offspring.

This crow stood out as it appeared to have no tail feathers. I proceeded to watch it from a distance, and it became clear that it couldn’t fly. I continued to see the crow, and usually another pair with it or nearby. I presumed they were its

Maths Again

by Paulclem on 08-21-2011 at 03:14 PM
A few weeks ago, my Boss came and asked me if I would like to change my role in the organisation. I’ve been a Literacy Programme Manager for a few years, but recently, with the insecurity in the Public Sector, I have studied Maths in order to give myself another iron in the fire.

So, as I did the L3 exam through my organisation, this has been noted.
As an incentive I was offered the chance this year to study for a L5 Maths Subject Specific Qualification at Warwick University.

A Tale of Two Franks

by Paulclem on 08-09-2011 at 08:33 PM
When we moved into our house, we discovered to our delight that the close – a dead end road with no through traffic - had quite a community of old folks living in it. It was very friendly, and, as my wife and I don’t drive, we would regularly see the other residents wandering round to the shops or walking the dogs. We soon got to know all of them, in particular Old Frank who lived over the road.

He was an irascible, bluff character who had served in the Fleet Air Arm in WW2. He would

Retiring Colleagues

by Paulclem on 07-29-2011 at 08:16 PM
The ones coming to the end of their careers I mean. Not the quiet ones that we all have to watch.

Yes it was a funny day today – I won’t say weird as it didn’t have any supernatural content, in the strictest sense of the word. It was funny watching the unfolding of a last day after watching the unfolding of the last six months.

It happened that my colleague, who sat opposite me all year, decided to take voluntary redundancy in order to enjoy her horse riding and all
