No longer scandalous story

I promised that I would tell Virgil a scandalous story one day. It was a scandalous story to tell in front of respectable ladies one and a half decades ago in Korea. What I know of Korea may or may not be true anymore. Anything sexual or related to the tail end of our digestive system would be considered scandalous or at least inappropriate to narrate in front of a genteel lady back then. A girl who considered herself respectable and proper would be indignant if told such jokes or tales.

I would like to express my gratitude to kasie, a forum member and friend, who told me of several interesting places to visit in Oxford, most of all, the pubs: Turf Tavern and Far From the Madding Crowd; and “the book shop to end all book shops!” in her exact words: Blackwell.

Visit to London

We arrived in London on July 10. We checked in to our hotel in Grosvenor Square near the American Embassy, an eye sore with “tank traps” all around the building. Shame in such a peaceful place! What kind of embassy is so uninviting and unfriendly! We were in a zombie state with lack of sleep over 18 hours. To disguise our drowsy looks, we dressed smartly and followed the local crowds to a restaurant hidden from main streets. Everyone was dressed in white and grey in accordance with the white table
