Hey there, a_little_wisp! L-o-o-o-n-g time no see. I hope you are well.

Wispy! It's been more than a month! Where are you?
  3. View Conversation
Wispy, I have not been on litnet in months. MONTHS! And I had the urge to get on and look through old stuff I have written tonight. And woah and behold, a message from you from the day before. It made me smile, honestly. I miss you as well. Life is treating me the way it typically treats me, if that makes sense. I am staring at my typewriter, trying to force something out. As a wise man (or boy rather) once told me, if you can't write anything, write the truest sentence you know at that point. But even that has failed me.
How are you, my old love-note lover? I am determined to actually use this site like I used to, so message me back!

They (things) pass the day with great joy! most of the time anyway If not, I give them a boot up the proverbial backside.

Still alive? Or have you passed on to the realm of the fairy tales and ignis fatuus ?

I'm not sure you celebrate, but I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas.

Oh wisp, is that you? You're so pretty.

I'm trying to spread a little Christmas cheer and drum up some votes for the short story contest this year: http://www.online-literature.com/for...ad.php?t=48195

Then she would run until morning to ease the ache; swifter than rain, swift as loss, racing to catch up with the time when she had known nothing at all but the sweetness of being herself.

Well, just 'any way' hardly ever is the right way.

Will these heels dig out my grave?
I’ve done the interior decoratin' and everything--
Now I just need to sink into it.
Anyway, heels never really fit me.
I mean, they fit my feet – just not me.
On days like these, I go diggin’ for the big baggy blue jeans,
Brother’s giant hand-me-down shirts
Hidin' and floppin' over bones and tendons
And all

"I just died a little inside."

But I guess that means you grow older too, a little, right? One more step deeper into life, closer to death. I don't mean to sound morbid-- growing older is a good thing. I'm still enjoying life.

I have to take my life by the reins before I can even consider leaving the beach. For this coming weekend, I had wanted to celebrate my brother's and sister's birthdays, and I had wanted to go to Augusta for my own reasons, but I know

My heart won't stay silent around you.

I watched him go as the cars swept by
And the smoker's circle
Exchanged the Sunday morning news.
There was a squid necklace clutched in my hand (gasping for air
as my heart gasped for courage.)

I shouted at him.
He shouted back.

The day was mine.

I was the envy of the parking lot.

This time, I think I'll kiss him.
And if he returns the kiss,

I will be the envy of the world.

I'm not a spin-the-bottle kind of girl.
You can't catch me with seven minutes in heaven.
I prefer the game that makes you break a sweat,
The one that makes you try a little harder,
Reach a little farther.

Go ahead.
I dare you to prove them wrong.
Pull the laziness out from the center of you with a string –
It feels strange, awakening.
I want you to
Hit me with your passion,
Make me sob in envy

I wonder if he cried when he was driving away.
(The one time I needed to cry for an audience,
I thought of this) –
Long fingers gripped around the steering wheel,
Chest heaving,
Music muted -
Oh, brother mine.

The break came once-upon-a-time ago
With a slow, quiet kind of stab in the dark (the worst kind),
Not very long across, but very deep -
A loss of trust, oozing out of the gash
