    Hi Princess,

Sorry to have posted a couple of blank messages, but for some reson the pictures that I want to send only translate into that annoying little box with a red cross in it. I think it has something to do with the heavy protection measures that Vista applies to the sending of certain data via the internet, although it lets me send pictures by Email. But don't quote me on it, I hate jumping through the computer's hoops and only enjoy using it in as straightforward a manner as possible.

    Hope you are OK.

    Hi Princess,
I sent you an Email this morning but unfortunately I wasn't able to connect to Lit Net because of computer problems that I have mentioned in the Email. So I missed your reply below. Comparative Western Politics is a great subject and I note the judicious choice of countries you have mentioned. The USSR is the odd man out as its current constitution is of recent provenance compared to the others and I don't think the dust has yet settled on the collapse of the Soviet Union. I have a particular interest in French politics which are the most interesting of four. Having read most of Emil Zola's works, it is fascinating to note that the in-fighting that has gone on in French politics since the revolutions of 1789, 1830, 1848 is still prevalent today and makes fascinating reading in the French press.

As you may know, the UK doesn't have a written constitution but at last there is talk about a possible change in this regard. Switzerland is a confederation of about 7 million people of German, French and Italian origin who, in my view, have a real democracy that enables them to vote on all major issues affecting their country; unlike the others mentioned who can only vote on what politicians want them to vote on.
Anyhow, I hope you enjoy studying the subject and look forward to your views on it.

As regards Milly, I brushed her coat this morning as this is the time of year when she starts to shed some of her fur and I don't want the bother of trying to vacuum it off of the carpet and furniture.

    Be good,

    Brian.

My life has been very busy of late, in fact next week I will be away from home for the entire week at a building construction site. The project has just been "completed" or at least that is what the builders tell us. Our company will be carrying out what is referred to as a "punch list". It is essentially a list that describes all of the remaining blemishes or corrections that the builders need to correct before the Owner occupies the new building.
Hope you enjoy your break and share the fun with us.

    Well Princess,

You realise that you are depriving the LitNet forum of your charming presence. However, I cannot allow a damsel to remain in distress to boredom. So I will don my suit of shining armour and send you an Email tomorrow.

    Lost Princess,
It has been too long since we last spoke.
I hope all is well with you and your studies. Based on Brian's message, it would seem that you had some computer troubles. My computer crashed as well about one week ago, but I am now back in business.

    Your friend,

    Hullo Princess,

What is wrong with your computer, is it under virus attack? The political website has since been closed down, probably due to the amount of abuse that was being thrown about on it.The self-righteousness that is natural to the Anglo-Saxon race is, nevertheless, often met with virulent abuse and all commonsense goes out of the window as both sides resort to name calling with very little by way of decent discussion. I don't mind a bit of rough and tumble as that has always been part of political debate but when it produces nothing but insults it becomes irrelevant. I couldn't comment on your discussion with your friend except to say that Evelyn Waugh the English writer once famously said that one should try everything once except incest and morris dancing.

    Be good,

    Brian

Shakespeare Sonnet 23

As an unperfect actor on the stage
Who with his fear is put besides his part,
Or some fierce thing replete with too much rage,
Whose strength's abundance weakens his own heart.
So I, for fear of trust, forget to say
The perfect ceremony of love's rite,
And in mine own love's strength seem to decay,
O'ercharged with burden of mine own love's might.
O, let my books be then the eloquence
And dumb presagers
