Yes, definitely I need rest. I am going to my general doctor tomorrow. I think my BP might be high - something feels out of wack. Maybe he can send me for blood tests too -routine ones. He is only around the block from my house; but I am overdue to go there.

I can't use my Region 1 player - it is messed up and it is new, too so I watched two that would work on the Region 2 - both Ken Branagh films - I am on a marathon week. I watched a older play called "Look Back in Anger", sounds cheery doesn't it? haah ..then I watched "Coming Through" which is about D.H.Lawrence and his poetry. I own them both so have seen them many times before. I sort of obsess on these things. I saw his full length "Hamlet" two nights ago....another cheerful show...haha

Wow, I would love to see New Zealand though - I have seen it in photos and it looks so beautiful there. Do you have mountains? Must be a cool place to live. Sorry though that you can't see exhibits like Dali. Yes, being close to a big city I am very lucky that way. I did have a membership at the Philadephia Art Museum; love going there; the perfect day out.

You two are bad tormenting the poor little kid. How funny - she liked it. Actually I had two girlfriends in the neighborhood and they both towered over me and so they bullied me. Being on the other end of that is not too nice.

Don't know about happiness. That is a long way off with this situation. It will take time, persistence and patience to make some needed changes; but at least the first steps have been taken.

I know what you mean about the future. You know what I have learned though if you spend your life worrying you forget to live it. These things have a cycle and you have to ride them out as best that you can. I am sure that you will be fine you seem to know what you want and I am sure that you will get it.

With an English/languages degree there are a few options. One is to teach, high school or elementary level, one is to continue on, one and one is to land a job doing research, publishing, or something white collar like that. Another is to become a manager, or a banker, or something like that.

As for me, I'm still doing the undergraduate thing, so I have some time to go, but things are looking good.

As for me, we technically at my university didn't need to apply for anything, just go in with prospects, and have the prerequisites for what we chose to take, which is a good system. It's interesting that you are studying something so intense - something I know I could not do, given my shyness towards the scientific - I did a computers course in university for my science requirement, and though I got a good mark, I realized why I had not gone for science - I simply cannot stand the opinionlessness of the work - so much fact and so little creativity.

As for me, I'm hoping to continue on for the Masters and P.h D. which will be a lot of work, and a lot of luck, and then hopefully land a lecturing position sooner or later. I simply cannot see myself outside of the academic setting - I love the politics, the people, and the overall feel - and I think the best part is it is rarely boring, and, having worked enough joe jobs in my day, I know how tedious that kind of work can be.

As for painting, my general interests originally were towards the cliché Renaissance works, as common for any beginner, but my taste moved with my literary tastes towards Canadian modernist and contemporary artwork, and to Aboriginal, specifically Canadian aboriginal artwork. You get interesting things like these couple of paintings from early Anglophone Canadian modernism, which isn't really modernism, but a strange blend of impressionism with indigenous elements:
    A Y Jackson

    Emily Carr

Carr too wrote some interesting non-fiction work after she lost her ability to paint to illness. A very interesting painter, though unfortunately, limited largely to Canadian audiences, as is most of Canadian art in general, being that the United States, and the rest of the world tends to ignore us.

Thanks about the avy; to be honest with you; I was entering a different photo and I could not get rid of the line "The Nutcracker"; so I though that one might work. I still am miffed as to how delete that line. I have a whole file of ballet (zip disk); need to incorporate it here, then burn to a CD.

Nope did little organisation; not sure I will accomplish it today, either. Didn't sleep well. Yes, the dust does indeed make me sneeze. I did lightly vacumn the floors. Ha! last night I opted to watch a DVD instead of organising them!

Good I will think of something to write; just give me time, ok?

Balls; have you actually been to them? Guess the wedding was like a ball, because I did indeed wear a formal dress that was long, thus a 'gown'. Both mothers did so. Can send you a photo of me at the wedding. The top of my soft beige dress was beautiful, all tiny beads/sequins; got lots of compliments.

Yes, I was mortified that Dali work was not there; I did find out oddly enough, from the curator of the museum, that it had been there, had to be returned. All of the work was from various locations around the globe, so I doubt it will come back anytime soon or even in my lifetime. Afraid it was a once in a lifetime opportunity; but the two trips there was still worthwhile. I actually enjoyed seeing the exhibit more the second time around.

Thanks for the admiration, but believe me I am no saint. I had to do many things when we had some health issues in my family, when I was about 13. I feel frustrated to this day, actually with my current problems looming; I would like to say they are getting better, but I don't see a solution yet. No, never used being older to threaten them with taking away toys, dolls. We were 4 and 5 yrs appart; it would not have occurred to me at all. False, the older sister does not get the most benefits; they only get the most grief, believe me. Youngest sister got away with everything. By then my mother said she was too tired to reprimand her properly. Well, it seems that leader role is being thrust on me lately, not a good position to be in, actually.

I am going for a major in English, and a specialist in languages, meaning I'll have 3 majors, one in English, one in French, and one in Italian. Because of that, I have to take a heavier courseload than most people, and work through the summers to make up for it. Usually two majors is considered a lot of work, but three is almost unheard of, and requires way more credits than most people take.

That's why I have to work through the winter break, and summers, and to be honest, I have little time for anything but work these next couple of years, though it is well worth it.

I plan to move on to work on Canadian literature, specifically comparative literature between French and English Canadians, and perhaps more on diaspora writing by Canadian immigrants, specifically Italian Canadian writing. That being said, I am no where ready to start a thesis, and still have years before I can start one - not to mention hours of language practice before I am able to read French and Italian well enough.

What are you planning on studying?

As for my brother, well, such a thing is impossible - it's an assignment on poetry, and he needs the marks if he is to get into a good university later, so I am pretty much required to help him out, as poetry at his level is a walk in the park for me.

Not often but it does happen...

I don't have enough time, and I have no money either..

I don't know. Read, read, read some more? Perhaps do some writing? I really have no idea.

Spending it reading for my classes, and doing my brother's homework for him . As for snow - once you live with it, once it's in your bones, then you can't help but try to escape. As Margret Atwood points out, in Canadian fiction, death is most common by falling through the ice, or by freezing to death in the snow. Perhaps now, now that we have snow removal operations, it isn't so extreme, but waking up at 4 in the morning to shovel a metre of snow is not too pleasant, despite the aesthetic beauty of a white city.

How about you? You are in summer, are you not, therefore you must be having a pleasant beginning to the new year. You are on vacation right now? Mine is just about ending, how about you?

A mandolin is a kind of a small guitar (only, more like a bass, because, like cello, and violin, it has four notes, however it's double stringed). It's used a lot in popular music. (Irish, Portuguese, ...) It has the same notes as a violin, at the same height. Only, it's played like a guitar. It's ealier to me because you don't have to "find" the places of the notes, you already have them marked by those "bars" (I don't know the tecnical terms fro these things in English yet )

Maybe I'll learn the cello, still. I hope to. Right now, it isn't something I can either afford, nor give the time I think I need. But I'll begin with the mandolin I've got here, which pleases me. Who knows much before I'm 62 I'll manage to include the cello in my life. I hope so.

About opening legs, well ... women do it as well, so, why talking so much about it? ... But I see what you meant. There must have been tough, now & again, until you get used ay?

Nice to talk with a professional cello player ... Who knows you'll help me to ... endure the continuation of my musical education

    It's sort of stopped
