I usually don't measure a book by the number of pages; I measure it by the number of inches of the width of the spine. I guess you do, too, to some extent, if you've read War and Peace.
Unabridged is a good way to go for Les Mes. Is it still really long? War and Peace is a great book! I wouldn't agree with everything in it, but very well-written.
Les Miserables is a great book! Only it's so long. I read the unabridged version. I"ll have to check out those authors. I read fantasy, too, mostly LOTR. What are your favorites of the classics?
Are you including books with political messages in the classical book category? I read classics, too, but I mean American, English, French, and some Russian classics, by authors like Dickens, Scott, Tolstoy, Cooper, and others. It's all from the past, but most of it still applies.
