Still working too much, I'm afraid, but I managed to get time for a stroll in a nature reserve a couple of miles from home together with my daughter: That was time well spent. I needed to relax a bit and I got some nice pictures. Spring is really in full swing now, and the place was full of spring flowers.

    Hullo,

I added a couple of new pictures to the Nature lovers group, just to get it going again. So how are you these days? Still working too hard?

Rammstein, now there is a name
Yes, I know them (never been to a concert though). I like them, especially the songs "Sonne" and "Amerika". I think I like Wolfstein better though - a bit more ... I don't know, less dark in music itself I guess ... Hard to explain. One song I really, really like is "die Flut" by Joachim Witt and Peter Heppner. Mr. Witt had quite a big influence on Rammstein. I do not know whether you understand German, but "die Flut" is about how you've gotta live in the world there is. Or well, not really ... you know what, here is the translation In German the words fit better, but it will get the message across

(I tried to put it in a spoiler, but it did not work - I'll send a PM )

    Take care,

    Heya

I just read your answer on the song I posted with your poem and thought I would give you some additional information. First off, it is not that strange that you do not know the group as they're from Germany. None of my friends know them, though the song "Supergirl" has been played here quite a bit.
The song itself is a cover, but I do not know who the original is by I checked it and turns out it is by Johnny Wakelin (never heard of him). It's quite a different song though - I like Reamonn's version better. This is what the singer (Rea) says about it: Place of no return (in Zaire). I do not know whether Phillip Mevio is from Zaire, it only says he's from Africa.

I hope you keep on writing wonderful poems like this. I wish you creativity and inspiration

    Take care,
    Sapphire

I agree that I'd much rather break my bike than my bones. Truth be told though, I usually do prang a couple of times every winter, but I have never really gotten hurt in the process. Most of the times I have gone down, I've been caught by ice hidden under the snow and when that happens you are better off taking the plunge on purpose than trying to hang on and go down (harder) anyway.

As for the bike itself, it is the sturdiest MTB I could get. It had to be, as I still bend it every now and then.

As a matter of fact, I ride that bike all year round, even in -20C or worse (partly in order to stay in some resemblance of shape). I go about 20km a day to and from work, and it is mostly cross country, so I can avoid heavy traffic: This punishes my bike a bit, and I have to admit that I keep breaking things. I think the frame is the only original part left by now. I have bent everything else

    Working too much: Likewise.
Praying for winter to end: Likewise.
I also had to fix a new rear wheel for my bike. The bearings failed big time and destroyed the hub beyond repair... Back in the saddle now, though.

Frustration

by Cellar Door on 03-03-2009 at 09:10 PM
I am very frustrated today. So I'm gonna make a list of things that frustrates me:

I hate that I can't find a job in my field; I graduated from college that I financed myself last may with a freaking 4.0 while working two jobs in order to "better myself" but guess what? It's almost a year later and I can't get into grad school and I'm still working those two same crappy jobs, only now for more hours; is paying the rent really worth it when you work 75 hours a week?! Lovely Bookcases...

by Cellar Door on 09-25-2008 at 05:59 PM
I, like the rest of you, I assume, have a ridiculous, incredible amount of books. It really is getting crazy. Anyway, I just moved out of an apartment on which every wall had a built in bookcase. The whole thing was filled with books. It was lovely. But I digress- I moved to a duplex with NO BOOKCASES. I am chronically broke- don't read this too closely, you may catch it *COUGH COUGH*- so cannot buy any.

Now the real story sets in. My well-meaning aunt has a widower friend.

I am Fallen

by Cellar Door on 09-22-2008 at 10:13 PM

saw a mouse behind the stove

winked at me whiskers twitching

heard the rhythmic ticking on
and on
of salvation

but it's just my clock

next to the tattered newspaper on the chair

fallen from the wall

fallen just like me

fallen from grace
