No I haven't. I'm awful at buying books that then take me months and months to read, as i slot others in that take my fancy. I'm reading The Glass Bead Game at the moment, which I have had around for a year. I'm a bit pressed for time, though did get through The Deerslayer recently - J Fenimoore Cooper of Last of the Mohicans fame. A pretty good novel.

I'm getting in a bit of reading at night too, and with the bad weather, on the bus.

If I ever get round to it, I'll let you know.

Oh I love York such a great place I usually get there once a year or so, hope you had a good time.

Yes it has not stopped raining has it for the last week or so. I spent one day with my trousers soaked at work (as I walk to work) the next day and the following week I got wise to it though and put my waterproofs on.

Sounds like a lot of people are busy. I've been get busy as well of late and looking forward to finishing this week to get to the holidays. I've not been on Litnet much this last couple of weeks as I am pretty much consumed with chess at the moment. I'm putting in as much practise as possible and have set myself a target to reach a fair standard by this time next year (1800).

Hi Mate,

I was thinking of you a week last Saturday when I was passing through your fair city.

It was half past eleven and a rainbow appeared over to the North. It made up for the showers. I'd been on a night out with my two brothers in York. My youngest brother lives in a village near there, and I was travelling back south on the coach.

I just thought I'd drop you a line as we haven't spoken for a while. Been very busy reccently.

My fellow students at my high school weren't saints, but I knew few people like the disruptive students you've encountered. We did have our hooligans, but usually the students were good kids. Our vice principal was a woman who didn't tolerant nonsense though.

I seriously can't believe those arguing in favor of noise... or perhaps I can considering they are all largely inconsiderate kids themselves. LitNet seems to have become a haven for such over the last month... 20-somethings with a couple years of college under their belts who seemingly know everything and feel free to let everyone know this in the most insulting manner. Personally, I'm not up to wasting my time on such debates right now. We're well dug into the school year and just now the powers-that-be have decided to take discipline and school control seriously and naturally, after having gotten away with so much up to now, the kids are rebelling big time. We have to put forth double the effort until they get the idea that they are no longer running the show. As such... I don't have a lot of energy at the end of the day.
