nope, kempo's a word for Japanese fist arts that claim to be traced directly to China. We pretty much do mainly standing jujutsu and aikido techniques, with punching like some kungfu styles, with a vertical fist. Haven't learnt too many fancy kicks though. More comfortable with my hand strikes and coming inside kicks, though sadly getting a little out of practise, baby and all that. May have time to do some Taiqi in the mornings, but that's about it.

The terms are confusing, since I think there's kendo, the Japanese bamboo stick bashing sword art, and kumdo, which is the Korean version of the same thing.

I hope the people you train with are very careful with the jujutsu . Very easy to get broken or damaged if you get someone who tries to force techniques.

My perspective: Fight through it. It's all about persistence, I think. Don't worry about whether you are good enough or not, keep going. I believe you'll have to force yourself for a while until the story starts to take over. If you stop moving you won't get new and interesting ideas, eh? Set yourself some time regularly and write. If you get stuck in traffic, maybe start from another perspective, but keep it on the story, until you are finished.

I'm good these days. Writing poetry..feels good. I try to write one a day, if I can. Maybe I'm not always good at writing but for me if I use a shotgun, eventually I'll hit something or someone, or maybe even several people. Maybe the metaphor's a bit dark, but hey.
Also writing my thesis proposal and in twenty minutes or so I'll force myself back into writing until I have fulfilled my targets for today and sent them to my supervisors for editing and comments. Tomorrow I have to teach Chinese.
What style of karate do you do? I mentioned before I did Shorinji Kempo, which is kind of like Aikido with punches, kicks and strikes.

Easy to get sucked in. I sometimes have that problem. But your creativity in gameworld doesn't exist outside it, unfortunately. Keep on with the writing. The game will not change if you take a break from it (unless of course it is an online one).
