The cast is very good. I think Rufus puts in the best performance though. He is very subtle at times and I find that appealing. He thinks before he speaks and he is very deep minded and still portrays a sweetness, even though he is very powerful and often very firey...he has a great range of emotions.

I did see the Libertine and liked it ok. It's almost too realistic for my tastes but I know London back then was pretty vile. I don't think I could stomach the movie again but Johnny Depp did a great job with his role. I like Samantha Morton. She was in a A&E version of "Emma" which I like a lot. I also own a version of "Jane Eyre" with she and Ciarran Hinds I like so much.

I think you are right in saying that type of indulgent life must have taken it's toll. I am wondering why they didn't all die of syphilis? Hey, Charles had a sort of harem of women, didn't he?

part 2....You know I am in-love right now with Damien Lewis. Funny, I thought that might be his wife, since I saw a very quick photo of her, when he was being interviewed. I have some things to say about her; she is a very good actress, but her looks don't appeal to me at all. Maybe they made her uglier in the film, but I don't think she has nice features. I think Damian looks a lot younger than she does; do you know if he is? I wondered why Charles would even go for her. Even Sally Henderson has a better face, even though she has that squeeky little voice. I think SH is a good actress. Did you see her and Rufus in the Shakespeare Retold "Taming of the Shrew"? It's hilarious! Damian is in the same production's version of "Much Ado About Nothing"...very amusing. It is how I first was introduced to him as an actor, watched his tv series "Life" on the my computer and I just got "Keane" in the mail today; can't wait to watch it; saw parts on Youtube. Damian's an incredible actor.

part I...yes I thought the same thing about RG - his face looked odd, bloated or something. I could not stand his character - I could not trust him at all. I guess his acting was quite good but I have him in another BBC film and I really don't care for him as I once did. I first saw him in "Fortunes of War" which I own and love. He was quite young there and I felt he had a lot of potenniel. He keeps popping up in things lately and as a slimy sort of character.

up but he's in most of the scenes and that is pure delight for a fan. I hate the first woman he took up with...the coniving one...Lady somebody. Glad he finally threw her out. I am starting to sound like I am watching a soap opera. I guess it was a sort of soap of the day.

part 2....I think I only have a few parts left to watch tonight. Like I said I am not sure I watched them in order entirely; however I am getting the gist and meaning of the whole story. I will have to finish up and ask you some questions about the history or read up online. I usually do that with monarchs. I find them fascinating. Thanks for suggesting it.

Oh good. I didn't realise you already had FFTMC. I hope you get the others you are looking for soon.

I watched most of Charles II last night. I am not sure about the sequence having come off YT. I had to sort of start episodes over again to find out where they left off. One seemed to leave off and not sure if I am missing something because the next part went right to something else abruptly. I thought that Katherine (the wife/queen) was indicating to Charles that she was pregnant; but then I didn't see what had happened to her after that. I took it she miscarried; am I right? There sure is a lot of bedroom scenes! haha....I used to really like Rupert Graves but I have seen him now in so many shady roles I am beginning to tire of him. I guess he is a good enough actor but I don't really like his style. If it weren't for Rufus Sewell I don't think this production would hold...see part 2...

part 2....I babysat Brooke last night...what fun we had. I am sort of worn out today. Toddlers keep one active for hours. I really cherish this time with her. My son seems to have come around now about me babysitting from time to time and he seems to get a kick out of how much Brooke shows affection to me. I am sure now she loves her Mum-Mum. I just adore her more and more each day. I think we will have a close relationship as time goes by. What a blessing.

When I got home I looked up your link and downloaded all of the Charles II. Only two parts would not download but I will try again today...might have been since I was doing too many at once in my program. It really does look fascinating. I watched some bits. I love Rufus! I also love stories about the monarchs. Can't wait to watch it...maybe tonight.

part 1...Did you look on Amazon UK site? I will look them up and see if they have them in Region 2PAL. I just bought some DVD's from there, which I will have to play on my computer. I think Shackleton comes in all Region; I will check. The more well known the actors the more expensive or rare these productions become.

Oh, I hate that when the system goes down and you forget what you wrote. I was writing a PM recently and it got fairly long and I was ready to post it and the system went down because I was doing an update and it finished...forgot it would restart my computer. I was so annoyed. It's hard to recall what one first wrote.

Part 4...hard to believe it's hard to obtain British films where you live...you are in England, right? Mostly all the ones I mentioned having, are region 1, except FFTMC.

part 3...I am really big on history, too. I didn't take such a kean interest until I was well out of school and realised how fascinating history is. I love stories of explorers and one of my alltime favorites is of Sir Ernest Shackleton, the Antarctic explorer. I own the miniseries film - another one I have seen countless times but then I am a big fan of Kenneth Branagh and he does a great job becoming the heroic figure. Now I even own books on the expedition and am forever fascinated with the story of the crew surviving against all odds. Have you seen the miniseries? It's wonderful!
