Oh, how considerate of you Qimi. Thanks I'm feeling a bit better now?
How are you doing? Do you paint in your spare time?

...I broke out in several cold sweats from the pain. I called my mother downstairs and asked her to call the drs and cancel for me. Later she told me it was the answering machine but only told the hours. She was right...also it dawned on me that today is Wed - my drs day off. Maybe the nurse practioner was there but if they were I couldn't communicate with them; so the heck with them. I really wonder sometimes how drs offices function. Needless to say I am better some in the coughing/sneezing/stuffed sinus'/congestion aspect. The stomach attach I think was partly IBS but it could have been from something I ate yesterday. I finally got back to bed and slept off and on and got better in the respect. Kind of ridiculous at this point to even go to the drs.

I sure hope you don't get this. How nice; you were going to paint; get anything productive done? You've so much more ambition than I have nowdays; not like in my youth...oh well, things do change; so do priorities I suppose.

Glad you're not frazzled today. I am bit frazzled myself. My mother did something that caused her drain to be clogged up; she had to call our neighbor in. We have needed a plumber for weeks now since there is a leaking pipe below our kitchen sink; so washing dishes it a big issue. I have to do it in bowls and then throw the water into the sink or toilet. We were hoping they would add it to the home renuvations but now it's getting a bit ridiculous and I am really fed up. She went and put coffee grounds and thick tomato soup down the drain in the bathroom. I was furious with her, because she knows not to do it. I am still quite sick, so my patience level is pretty low today... just took me a hour to clean up my dishes.

Wait until you hear this, on top of this horrible day, I got an appointment with the nurse practioner today at 12; I woke up with horrid pains in my gut; thought I was dying; spend the morning running to the bathoom and also I threw up a little once...

Hey, that was really good. I enjoyed it a lot. I am going to bed now. I have a dr appointment tomorrow at noon. They won't order antibiotics over the phone; just pray I don't contract anything else. I am feeling some better and would love to cancel now but my mother said she thinks I should still go.

Is it good to be frazzled? hahah I need to get back to being frazzeled myself and get this china packed for the renuvations, or I will be plenty sorry. I guess we need to get frazzled to get anything productive done.

Enjoy your day tomorrow and thanks for the article - I liked it.

Hope work is not too brutal on you....at least you won't be bored. I wish I could work - preferable to being sick....but then again.....oh well, we just never are satisfied, are we? Take care, quim and hope your day was a good one! I called a short time ago for my dr to call in antibiotics to the pharmacy; I am still too sick to go to him and he will usually do this in that case....since he knows me and my family well. I hope by now they have the order.

Why are you bored? I am going stark raving mad myself - I haven't been able to use my voice now for 3 days - talk about isolation. I am still feeling pretty bad. I guess it will take time. I am kind of bored right now myself. I am going to bed now. I could have sworn I wrote you another note tonight but I can't find it....how odd...

Take care gim and I hope you get unbored soon enough.

Thanks! An A.A. is Associates of Arts degree. There are not many jobs really that ask for it. It is better to have a Bachelor's. An A.A. is what you get before you get a Bachelor's degree, but some people don't bother and just get the Bachelor's. Many coding jobs are asking for an A.A. though. As for the picture, yes--I'm pleased with it even if I didn't win the contest. It was the first picture I started experimenting with, and I liked the results. It occurred to me that many colors have a faint color underneath. You see mostly blue--but then you see a hint of gray. While it is difficult to do with colored pencil, I'm starting to put down underlying colors first before the major color. I'm reading Girl with a Pearl Earring--and I was interested to learn that Vermeer did the same thing. Of course, it is easier with paint than colored pencil.

No, but it was awfully nice to have Wednesday off. I know how much you enjoyed those days off. It was a pleasure to read about them. Jersea

Hi! I hope you are well! I am finally over the flu and trying to get back to my studies, but it is hard after a month of illness. I have decided to go back and get my A.A. if I can get financial aide, since I am only nine credits from getting it (though six are math, which I suck at). I didn't win my art contest, but my submission does get shown with all the others on YouTube--which is neat. I took a risk doing a collage because the person wanted us to do ONE scene from ONE game--and I did many scenes from two games. That may have cost me the competition. Of course, another thing is that I think they were looking for a general theme that represents the game, where I did a specific one--focusing on one storyline. Anyway, I'm still proud of my submission. There was a short story contest, but I'm a little contest out--and besides, I am trying to get back on track with my studies.

Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout

by qimissung on 12-15-2012 at 01:13 AM
I live in the United States of America, and we had another school shooting today. With horror I listened to the news reports that a gunman had gone into an elementary school and killed 27 people, 20 of them “children between the ages of 5 and 10.” And I listened tiredly and wearily to the usual rhetoric of the newscast without end as they recounted the “worst school shooting in an elementary school.”
I guess they are doing the best they can, but you simply can’t put a qualifier or adjective

In Memoriam

by qimissung on 04-03-2012 at 11:05 PM
One of my former students-he graduated last year-was shot and killed last night around 10 o'clock.

He had just finished playing a game of basketball and was sitting in a car on a dark street, with his cousin. They were waiting for his cousin's ride when another car drove up. It was someone they knew and they argued over a girl his cousin had been seeing. The young man in the car pulled out a gun and shot them. Victor was shot two times in the back. He was treated at a nearby hospital,

The Anger and The Anguish

by qimissung on 01-04-2012 at 01:24 PM
I read several good books in 2011. I read "Candide," "The Crying of Lot 49", "Housekeeping," "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius," and "The Dubliners." I read others, but these I read last fall and today it is of "The Dubliners" I speak.

I've been wanting to read something by Joyce. Eventually I hope to read "Ulysses." I think that might be akin to saying that someday I'd like to climb Mount Everest, for

The Bird's Nest

by qimissung on 12-27-2011 at 02:20 PM
looking at it I knew it was different
a bird's nest
full of hope and fear
and the cavalier fulsomeness of life
the blind ability to get up each day under the weight of it all
to go out every day believing you were one of the masses
dressed in the same uniform
believing the same things
that god is good
that love will find a way
believing or hoping to believe that
the others would not notice your vampiric differences

I acquire some books

by qimissung on 12-04-2011 at 07:13 PM
I got up yesterday morning, a Saturday, around 5:45. I washed my face and dressed and walked to my car in the dark. I stopped by my local Starbucks and treated myself to a tall mocha.

I then made my way down Midway to 635; from there to Central Expressway from which I exited at Northwest Highway. My destination was the Half-Price Books located there, or rather the warehouse that I knew was located near it.

Once I arrived I noticed, somewhat to my chagrin, that there
