I just tried again on my page to get a snowflake pattern into my background and I can't get in. The block turns bright red and says I have to get the code from my photoalbum...that is what I am doing I hope you are more sucessful than I am. Some teacher I am....

Here's a tip, save your old formating - either take a screen shot or copy out the codes (colors)..you might want to return to it again someday. I really loved your Bugs Bunny and the colors on your page always made me feel so happy.

I like repeating prints myself but these that you found may work just fine. Like I said, you can tone them down some if they tend to make the page look too 'busy'. Let me look in my offline photo clipart files and see if anything fits the description you mentioned of a tile. I would however first try these, one may look really good. I thought immediately of those other Litnet pages. I like all of theirs so much.

Glad you weekend was so nice - cleaning - eeek. I am so guilty! I need to get a handle on things and clean. I used to be a good cleaner but now I procrastinate all the time and things get dusty. I tend to get sore back vacumning and dusting, I get totally overwhelmed. If you saw my china collection in my album, you would understand why. I guess the weekend was ok. I had hoped it would be more eventful seeing Brooke. We had snow on Saturday night so that was very pretty...not much left today but still prettier than before.

I am pretty sure she is better now. I don't want to call tonight because my son was pretty bearish last night; apparently his wife was going out with some girlfriends and he was left to babysit after a long day of work; I don't think he was at all happy about that...it was her birthday on Tues and I thought they were going out on the weekend to celebrate...well, I suppose the honeymoon is over! I am not too upset; he just gets moody and most likely he had great fun with his daughter.

Now you've gotten the idea. I like those very much. I am not sure which will work best with the photo. You could upload all three to an album on your profile page and then try one at a time. See how it looks. You can even ghost out some...work them in an offline program if they overpower the picture. There's all kinds of tricks of the trade of designing.

part 2...No, didn't get to see my little Brooke. She got sick and the canceled again. I was worried about her but now she is doing a little better - on antibiotics. I really miss her but I was more concerned over her health.

I like the picture but I have to ask, did you keep the colors on your page? If so I think they overpower the picture which is more mutted tonally. What type of image or texture would you have in-mind for the background...opposite the photo and the main areas of your profile page. If you want to tile something, I can help...I also can look for something for you. Just suggest to me what you were thinking about. From there is not hard to do. You first upload the background photo to your photoalbum; then you copy and past the code into the formating block. It should work, although last time I attempted it, I could not get the background to take. The mods said to start from scratch with no formating at all...then add photo and colors to match. I am big on matching to my profile photo, athough currently, I guess I don't really match too well. I will be changing that soon though for Valentine's Day probably.

    see part 2...

firefangled, yes; you are right that's exactly how he is. And thank you for the kind things you've said about my poem, I was very uncertain of it. I haven't written much lately. It was very much inspired by two books I've read recently: Rituals by Cees Nooteboom, and One Thousand Cranes by Yasunari Kawabata, which is referenced in Rituals specifically relating to the Japanese tea ceremony. Both are excellent books.

Boutes-Rimes look tricky! I'll give it a try, thanks for bringing it to my attention

Sprackland is a British poet; well thought over here but perhaps not even be published outside the UK. I'll definitely drop you a couple of her poems. I'm glad you liked the other one I sent you. Contemporary poetry is a bit of a minefield, there's some really good stuff out there but you have to work really hard to find it. I rely on Bloodaxe to do my finding for me. That's probably cheating, but they are good

Heretic, rebel, a thing to flout

by qimissung on 12-15-2012 at 02:13 AM
I live in the United States of America, and we had another school shooting today. With horror I listened to the news reports that a gunman had gone into an elementary school and killed 27 people, 20 of them “children between the ages of 5 and 10.” And I listened tiredly and wearily to the usual rhetoric of the newscast without end as they recounted the “worst school shooting in an elementary school.”
I guess they are doing the best they can, but you simply can’t put a qualifier or adjective

In Memoriam

by qimissung on 04-03-2012 at 11:05 PM
One of my former students-he graduated last year-was shot and killed last night around 10 o'clock.

He had just finished playing a game of basketball and was sitting in a car on a dark street, with his cousin. They were waiting for his cousin's ride when another car drove up. It was someone they knew and they argued over a girl his cousin had been seeing. The young man in the car pulled out a gun and shot them. Victor was shot two times in the back. He was treated at a nearby hospital,

The Anger and The Anguish

by qimissung on 01-04-2012 at 02:24 PM
I read several good books in 2011. I read "Candide," "The Crying of Lot 49", "Housekeeping," "A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius," and "The Dubliners." I read others, but these I read last fall and today it is of "The Dubliners" I speak.

I've been wanting to read something by Joyce. Eventually I hope to read "Ulysses." I think that might be akin to saying that someday I'd like to climb Mount Everest, for

The Bird's Nest

by qimissung on 12-27-2011 at 03:20 PM
looking at it I knew it was different
a bird's nest
full of hope and fear
and the cavalier fulsomeness of life
the blind ability to get up each day under the weight of it all
to go out every day believing you were one of the masses
dressed in the same uniform
believing the same things
that god is good
that love will find a way
believing or hoping to believe that
the others would not notice your vampiric differences

I acquire some books

by qimissung on 12-04-2011 at 08:13 PM
I got up yesterday morning, a Saturday, around 5:45. I washed my face and dressed and walked to my car in the dark. I stopped by my local Starbucks and treated myself to a tall mocha.

I then made my way down Midway to 635; from there to Central Expressway from which I exited at Northwest Highway. My destination was the Half-Price Books located there, or rather the warehouse that I knew was located near it.

Once I arrived I noticed, somewhat to my chagrin, that there
