Well, I gew up around musicals. My brother was primarily into Sondheim, Hamlisch and the classic ones, such as Porter and Berlin. I always loved movie musicals, but my first theatrical musical experience was "Camelot". "Man of La Mancha" was a very good show, too. In fact, I saw Robert Goulet as King Arthur and as Don Quixote.

My musical preferences are pretty varied. My top 5 are "Phantom", "Sweeney Todd", "Big River", "The Scarlet Pimpernel" and "1776". Although I find myself liking "Jersey Boys" more and more. That just may take the place of "1776". How about you? What are some of your favorites?

I was just "snooping" around here and I noticed that you have an interest in theatre/Broadway. I enjoy both plays and musicals, but I am pretty fanatical when it comes to musicals. How about you?

By the way, I like the choice of your background.

Can I join the "Masters" discussion? I didn't know you could specialize in a particular subdivision of literature for a masters either - that's kind of cool. Mine is in English lit, but "English" meant simply "literature" I think; either way, my emphasis was medieval/renaissance lit and 20thC American fiction (love that "trinity" of Hemingway, Faulkner, and Steinbeck).

Anyway, thanks for your friendship request, and thanks as well for your thoughtful and well-constructed posts. A pleasure to read!

Hey I just noticed your profile. You've got a Master's in American lit. I didn't know they offered one that specific. My masters is in English lit, but my emphasis was 20th century English (from Britain) lit.
