Sorry I didn't write back. Things are so hectic here. Hope all is well with you.
Sorry I didn't get back to you. I am not doing so well. Am in the midst of a family crisis involving my mother getting into a nursing home. Long story but it's very complicated. She was in a rehab and now she is in one connected but I will be moving her to another....easier said than done. She is 89 and has improved with therapy and nutrition but she is not ready to come home yet.
Hope all is well with you. Long time since we talked. When things settle down I will write you.
Your schooling sounded demanding of most of your time. Keep with the tough stuff and later you will be glad of it. I can fully understand how it is hard to find time for this site. We luckily took a extended break from the Lawrence thread; everyone's consenses. There are tons more of his short stories yet to discuss. I happen to read all the ones I had not read yet. Now I can say I read all three of the books in the set; so I am well prepared to pick a new one, when the time comes up. December might be difficult for me, but we'll see. It might work out ok, too. Hope you can join in one at least one of them soon.
It probably is the user settings. Funny, I get notices of ones I don't care that much about; others, no notices at all.
Family issues; long story. My sister is now in a hospital again. This makes over 4 times since the new year. Difficult situation to deal with; hopefully she is getting better now with a new doctor. She suffers from severe bipolar disorder. Things can't be perfect, but that's life.
Oh, so glad you saw the photos of Brooke. I thought her Christmas ones were real cute. She also celebrated Chaunkah, since her mother is Jewish. I will send you links to my albums in Photobucket since there are many in there and up-to-date photos and some short videos, too. Do you have the same email address? I looked in my address file on Yahoo and it's still there.
I haven't finished a fictional book for awhile, either. I have been trying to get into one by Hawthorne, but I can't seem to make much progress. The book is The Marble Faun; about an artist so you would think it would grab my interest right away. Maybe I just got summer lazy.

I'm doing well, although I'm very busy with the new school year and the classes I'm going to supervise. All the best for you too!!!
Hira, how nice to finally hear from you again. Same question for you...how have you been? I have had a rough year so far, but things seem to be looking up. At least, in the sense of approaching some difficult decisions and feel sure of the right course to take. Otherwise, I am enjoying my darling grand-daughter. She's delightful; turned one in May and is walking, even running all over the place and now talking some, too. She's quite entertaining. I babysat her the other night which had me in seventh heaven!
I hope we can disguss another Lawrence story soon. Refresh my memory; you were in our group at one time, right?
PS: I didn't get any notice either that you posted in here today; that's odd.
Happy Birthday, Hira!!! May you always be happy and healthy!!!
That is odd, they always send them to me. Did anyone make up a birthday thread for you, Hira? I just thought of it; I should have done it. I am so sorry; I was busy all afternoon with my grandbaby visiting; maybe it is not too late. I will go and look now to see if there is one. I loved your card; that was so thoughful. Did you get mine? Scher sent me an interview to fill out between the questions; didn't you get one? I send it to her yesterday, but she did not yet post it. Some are in the birthday threads. I don't know if everyone gets one or not. I think mine ended up being really long; you know me -such a chatterbox. I celebrated today, by the wonderful visit of my grand-daughter, and my son and Brooke's mom. We had a grand time - see my birthday thread and you will see a photo of her playing 'Happy Birthday' to me on the piano. I cooked us dinner; they had brought cupcakes. I put one candle on top mine and they all sang. Brooke was quite amused with the candlelight. I loved playing with her. She just turned 9 months old. She is very dear to my heart. Seeing her today made me absolutely happy.
Hira, what will you do for you birthday tomorrow? Will we have the priviledge of an interesting interview from you in your birthday thread? I need to finish mine up today and send to Scher. Happy Birthday early! Your birthday twin, Janine
