Oh, I also gave your book titles and name to our best-selling bookstore, who like to be on top of 'whats new'... so here's hoping!

Peter, I have not, as yet, read your books. I have put in a suggestion to our Library, to obtain them. They have yet to let me know the status.
I do not order stuff online, books, clothes, etc., so I am at the mercy of the library. If they do not come through, then I can try our local bookstore to place an order. I would very much like to read these two books for sure.
Don't know what is new in Sask-a-bush (lol, slang for Saskatchewan). But here in Manitoba we are in the midst of a beautiful autumn...

Economic War

by PeterL on 03-02-2018 at 08:39 AM
Not all wars are examples of diplomacy failing. The economic war that Trump has set up is a personal affair, that he didnít negotiated with anyone; although at Davos he commented that a weak dollar would help U.S. trade. And it will; it will make U.S. goods less expensive than similar goods from other countries. That should help U.S. manufacturers to some degree. But a weak dollar will make the U.S. less desirable as a place to invest, because it will lower the values of capital assets, especially

Improving Football

by PeterL on 02-05-2018 at 08:35 PM
I wrote this on Superbowl Sunday, and I was in a bar that has no TVís. When I was young and foolish, I liked football, both to play and to watch. Alas, like most things football has deteriorated over time. In any population there are only so many great players, and the NFL had all of them, but some greedy people created additional teams and started the AFL to try to cash in on the gameís popularity. Initially, the AFL tried to create a big show, and they did grab a few good players, and the NFL

Trump's Next Great Adventure.

by PeterL on 01-28-2018 at 09:02 PM
Trump has messed things up more than enough already, so we could tell him that he succeeded in making America Great again, and it's time to move on. For his next adventure he could turn around a "**** hole country", and I would suggest that he take on Eritrea.

Eritrea is such a wonderful place that many of its residents are trying to leave. It has been governed by a dictator for decades, and the standard of living is rather low. But Eritrea is a beautiful tropical place

War by Another Name

by PeterL on 01-23-2018 at 05:14 PM
Wars are examples of diplomacy failing. Trade wars are one form of war, and they can be a harmful as shooting wars. The Great Depression was caused by a trade war, and we may have a similar event in the near future.

The history books donít have much about it, but there nearly was a shooting war between the U.S.A. and the UK in the 1920ís. London had been the primary center of international finance since the Seventeenth Century. Debt and equity were issued and traded there more than

Propaganda Techniques

by PeterL on 01-11-2018 at 09:19 PM
This started as just being about exaggeration, but it became more general. Enjoy

Part of the zeitgeist of these times is that the people producing news coverage exaggerate most of the time. It isn't enough for them that there is a snowstorm coming; not now it is "Bomb Cyclone". I don't know if it simply became part of the American psyche, or if it's just imitating Trump, but if there's a more shocking way to put something, then the people producing news coverage put it that
