No. Right now, I'm not a follower of any God. Until I can get solid proof, It's all illusions and stories fabricated by men over time. I guess I''m a neutral. Religion...Now that is a deep subject.

Might It Be Hubris?

by PeterL on 04-17-2017 at 08:16 PM
As a species, humans seem to think they are something special, and maybe they are, but the available evidence doesn't show them to be as marvelous as they would like to think they are. What have humans done that is truly something for the whole universe? Are the fine arts any more than emotional outpourings? Is their literature universal? If humans disappeared tomorrow, would anyone (thing) notice the loss, ever?

The topics of the visual arts are things that interest humans: people,

Equality

by PeterL on 04-05-2017 at 11:51 AM
Hey, we've gotten rid a few legal inequalities, let's try for the rest.

I favor equality before the law, and I'm not shy about expressing that opinion. Here in the U.S.A. we are supposed to have equality both on the federal level and the state level, but legislators have snuck in bits of inequality all over the place. The states are required to treat people equally by the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment:

History Is on Our Side

by PeterL on 03-30-2017 at 09:15 PM
Among the more significant topics of in this blog have been Classical Liberalism and the Enlightenment. Those aren't common topics of conversation, but they are behind many conversations that people have, because they can openly converse about many topics, because the Enlightenment happened; the forces of religion were fought back into their caged minds, and we, Classical Liberals, asserted the rights of all to free speech and the other freedoms. Classical Liberalism established the freedoms that

Appeal to Authority

by PeterL on 03-23-2017 at 06:25 PM
This is another in my occasional series of logical fallacies. Appeal to Authority (Latin argumentum ad verecundiam) is quite popular, and some people think that it operates as a trump card. If old So-and-So says so, then it must be true. Well, that's not how one wins an argument; the one with the best facts and the logic wins. Even if your authority is a recognized authority on the subject at hand you have to present the data and the logical argument, but it is more common for people to cite an

Nullification

by PeterL on 03-19-2017 at 04:15 PM
I had thought that the horrible 2016 election cycle was over, but three woman have filed a federal court action that could result in the 2016 presidential election being tossed out. I am sure that the text of their action is available online somewhere, but I donít know where. From what I managed to find out, this suit is in regard to Russian actions to affect the election, and their claim is under the Guarantee Clause of the Constitution.

"Allegations are that the U.S. government
