Oh, I also gave your book titles and name to our best-selling bookstore, who like to be on top of 'whats new'... so here's hoping!

Peter, I have not, as yet, read your books. I have put in a suggestion to our Library, to obtain them. They have yet to let me know the status.
I do not order stuff online, books, clothes, etc., so I am at the mercy of the library. If they do not come through, then I can try our local bookstore to place an order. I would very much like to read these two books for sure.
Don't know what is new in Sask-a-bush (lol, slang for Saskatchewan). But here in Manitoba we are in the midst of a beautiful autumn...

Works in Progress

by PeterL on 02-21-2019 at 07:39 PM
From time to time, people ask me what I am writing, and I usually refuse to comment, and sometimes I tell why, and I did that today.

The reason is simple, many stories have one good telling, so I better get it written while I can. A number of years ago I thought of a great story, and I went through and thought out every bit of it from opening to dialogue to the ending. One evening, before I wrote it down I told some friends the story in all details that I could think of. They all

The Joy of False Premises

by PeterL on 02-05-2019 at 05:30 PM
A couple of days ago I was involved in an excellent example of the problem with false premises. If one selects the premises of an argument properly, then one can prove any argument using pseudo-logical methods. That is why using false premises is a logical fallacy.

I was just trying to provide some interesting small talk and mentioned how I had again found a phishing site that was using one of my books as bait for people to leave their credit card information. I recounted informing

What Are They Thinking

by PeterL on 02-02-2019 at 04:33 PM
I have a few extra email accounts, and one is just for things that I want to stay away from. For some reason, that address has gotten into the hands of some web sites in Russia and Ukraine that specialize in trying to either sell women, or to get stupid people to send money to unknown persons who claim to be sexy women who want to move out of Russia.

I feel sorry for Russian and Ukrainian women who try to solicit money by email. They send an endless of stream of email that must take

Hat in the Ring?

by PeterL on 01-26-2019 at 04:57 PM
Has the time come for me to toss my hat into the ring for the presidency of the United States of America in 2020?

The U.S.A. hasn't had an independent president since Washington. And I doubt that any party would be willing to back me, except maybe the Libertarian Party. Or I could declare that I am with the Classical Liberal Party, and that would confuse most people. Having someone at the top who was as unconnected from political insiders and criminals world be refreshing. Several

Institutionalized Ignorance

by PeterL on 01-14-2019 at 05:13 PM
A few days ago I was horrified to read the James Watson, Nobel Laureate for having discovered DNA, is being condemned for having made comments that are alleged to be racist; although there has been no inquiry into the veracity of his comments.

Specifically, Doctor Watson is cited as having said, “There’s a “difference on the average between blacks and whites on IQ tests,” he said. “I would say the difference is ... genetic.” He also said he took no joy in his conclusion. The situation
