Yes, true. The thing about online though, is I'll have to keep reminding myself to stay on it. I always have class to remind me of that, but online, it's basically your schedule.

Oh dear...that's not good. I may end up having to take that class online....what fun that will be!

Those dratted online classes! Although I admit that since this semester started, I'm getting a little better with online things.

    Doesn't sound familiar...so I hope it's something new...

    Yes, very much.

Pre-Calc had a lot to do with geometry. Sines, cosines, tangents, etc. But I do hope it is different. I'm tired of feeling like I'm repeating classes over and over.

That;s why I have my laptop with me. I usually do my homework then and there(since it's online) and then fool around on the computer. I know exactly how to do the things the teacher's talking about, so I don't really pay attention. I have to say I feel lazy about it...

Well, It's required. I took geometry in high school and passed with a decent grade, but they require me to take Plane Trig. My last required math class is Calculus, which I'm hoping it's about the same as Pre-Calc, since I have a lot of experience in that field.

Actually, I'm taking four classes this semester also. I would love to take it, but maybe later.

I'm taking the last Biology class that's required, my last English class required, Plane Trigonometry, and Psychology, which is surprisingly interesting.

Now that is something I can agree with.

Ehh. Laziness can also be the death of you. It's how far you end up taking it.

Rule of Law

by PeterL on 11-21-2021 at 01:46 PM
I have already written about the lack of care in using laws and the constitution as the bases for governmental action, but something has to be done about it, one way or another.

It bothers me that the federal government has taken over some of the powers of the states, even though the feds are explicitly forbidden from assuming any powers that have not been granted to it. We just have to look at the federal departments to see this. Department of Education, Department of Health

How Much" Eliminating Inflation

by PeterL on 10-29-2021 at 10:11 AM
I don't often think about inflation, but it is present whenever I buy anything, and it is not as benign as some would have us think. There are many measures of inflation, but I like to use a few things to show the change in proportion. You may not remember it, but in 1820 an ounce of gold was worth $20. That same ounce of gold would have sold for $35 in the 1960'a. But that isn't comparable, because the market for gold was highly regulated.

Another comparison is in the cost of labor

Fake Science

by PeterL on 10-14-2021 at 10:03 AM
I have followed science news for decades, but I have become progressively less impressed with it, because of the lower quality of the reporting. Part of the reason might be that I am more knowledgeable now than I was a few decades ago, but I do think that the writers of science articles are not as familiar with the material they are writing about as was typical in the past. Some articles give me the impression that the writer had no prior knowledge of the subject at hand.

Something About Post-Apocalyptic Literature

by PeterL on 10-02-2021 at 01:46 PM
It has been written that a work of fiction is a conversation between the author and the reader, or one side of the conversation. That that implies that the reader must think about and understand what the author is expressing ( see The Role of the Reader by Umberto Eco for more detail). For that reason, I am giving some insight into my novels Causation and Paradoxes and Contradictions.

I have long had a problem with most apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic literature and movies, because
