Oh, I also gave your book titles and name to our best-selling bookstore, who like to be on top of 'whats new'... so here's hoping!

Peter, I have not, as yet, read your books. I have put in a suggestion to our Library, to obtain them. They have yet to let me know the status.
I do not order stuff online, books, clothes, etc., so I am at the mercy of the library. If they do not come through, then I can try our local bookstore to place an order. I would very much like to read these two books for sure.
Don't know what is new in Sask-a-bush (lol, slang for Saskatchewan). But here in Manitoba we are in the midst of a beautiful autumn...

Alcohol and Equal Rights for All

by PeterL on Today at 09:41 AM
Humans have been consuming alcohol for at least as long as there have been humans, and there are good reasons to believe that the desire for more alcohol was the driving force behind the development of agriculture. Humans probably got their first tastes of alcohol from fallen fruit that naturally fermented. There's no way to tell for sure, but there are signs of ale, sort of, having been made from seeds about twenty-five thousand years ago, and it is generally accepted that agriculture developed

Standard Time is the Problem

by PeterL on 03-13-2019 at 10:34 AM
Once again Daylight Saving Tine is with us, and some people still believe that it does save daylight, or something like that, but most people have found that Daylight Saving Time (DST) is an inconvenience that was foisted upon the world using fallacious reasoning and outright lies. But it may have seemed like a good idea at one time.

To understand the breadth of the problem, we have to look at how it developed. Originally, time was local. Every city and town had its town clock upon

Brexit and Pirenne

by PeterL on 03-08-2019 at 10:20 AM
After posting a blog yesterday, I had the thought that a really good blog post would be about how the EU relates to Henri Pirenne’s Thesis. In a perfect world I wouldn’t have to explain that, but some people would prefer to know about it. Henri Pirenne "was a Belgian historian. A medievalist of Walloon descent, he wrote a multivolume history of Belgium in French and became a national hero. He also became prominent in the nonviolent resistance to the Germans who occupied Belgium in World War

Persistence

by PeterL on 03-06-2019 at 08:09 PM
I just noticed that the internet is almost as slow as it was in the days of dial-up and other such problems. Apparently, the ISP’s and site owners have decided that just because high speed internet is available is no reason why end users should be able to use it. Internet Service Providers, web hosts, and others set up all sorts of extras that could speed things for some users and slow things for others. One part of that was regulatory permission for those who provide the web services to allow some

Works in Progress

by PeterL on 02-21-2019 at 07:39 PM
From time to time, people ask me what I am writing, and I usually refuse to comment, and sometimes I tell why, and I did that today.

The reason is simple, many stories have one good telling, so I better get it written while I can. A number of years ago I thought of a great story, and I went through and thought out every bit of it from opening to dialogue to the ending. One evening, before I wrote it down I told some friends the story in all details that I could think of. They all
