Brada mi je zaštitni znak, ne samo na slici; kažu da baš odaje filozofa u meni
Ma učio sam...Super, sve sam položio; na ljeto sam valjda smrdljiva božićna riba !
Meni 23., još deset dana laganog tempa a onda opet psihofizički teror nad jadnim studentima.

Precisely - the level of maturity varies from person to person . I started Dostoevsky at 16.
Incidentally, Borges' words are certainly true . He is another writer I want to look into (the more one reads, the more one HAS to read ).

You are very welcome my dear.......

omg. I feel very out of touch with the other people speaking...a foreign....language on your profile. What is the language and I will write something in it as well!!!!

Evo me opet; imao sam par gadnih ispita i tako to...

Da je Fabregas ostao, pitanje je da li bi ostalo toliko mjesta za Iniestu; jer nije uopće igrao dok je Deco još igrao za ozbiljno. A Milan je gotov, prestari su više. A sada se još i Kaka ozlijedio...

    Zdravo Johann ,

I've only been learning your language for some weeks now, and it still takes me *ages* to construct a sentence . It would be really great if you'd volunteer to do some conversation in Bosnian with me! Just some sentences would be awesome, I'm not past the "introduce-yourself-and-talk-about-the-weather"-part anyway . Hvala!

Sooo, here's my first try :
Ja se zovem Ricarda, i ja sam studentica. A ti?

P.S.: I study Ancient History and I'm especially interested in the history of the Balkan provinces under the Roman Empire. I started to learn Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian because I'll be going on a university field trip to Croatia in summer to see some of the Roman remains there, and since I might want to continue research there sometime, I thought it might be useful to at least be able to order a pizza in the local language .

Hi, Johann! Yeah, I saw some of your favorites, and they match with mine
I think Dostoevsky is always a favorite amongst us Eastern Europeans a ja sam se tek sad malo uzivila u ovaj forum, posto se dosadjujem na poslu po cijeli dan...

    Hi Johann,

I was just browsing the photoalbum thread (nice picture of you!), when I saw you're from Bosnia & Herzegovina, and I felt like dropping a "zdravo!" here . I'm learning Bosnian at the moment, and maybe I could brush up on my conversational skills by translating some of the messages here on your page!

    Best wishes,
    Schoko

I suppose it's true that no one can really aim at full comprehension, at least insofar as what every word means to the author but what I meant was - well, I don't really know how to explain it. Through reading TBK the deepest I got into comprehension is sort of the general philosophical and spiritual directions the book takes, beyond the story, I mean.

What I mean by full comprehension is that I've "assimilated" the book, if that makes any sense. Seeing how everything in it interconnects, understanding the foundation of the book, knowing the context, what it means to my beliefs and personality, what I disagree/agree with and why, etc.

I am young . High-schooler young, but I'm glad. I always has a sort of vague idea that I'd wait till I was at least middle-aged before attempting Russian lit. However when preparing for my SAT (a mandatory test in the States to see how we can cope with things) I heard that it helped to read things above your usual level, so with few misgivings I dove into Tolstoy and Dostoevsky.

I'll read Notes from the Underground, then. I looked up The Death and the Dervish, and I'll keep an eye out for it too . Thanks .

I'll probably be taking you up on that in the summertime, after I finish Les Miserables!! But can I ask, what's your favorite novel by Dostoevsky?? I've only read Crime and Punishment and the Brothers Karamazov. TBK is so far my favorite - but I don't want to guess how many times I'll have to read both before I can say I fully comprehend .
