To be honesty, it parent that stay home most and does more with child to that get know child better special with development of skill as well as personality. My girls are older than Matthew. Older is confidence but bit shy also ask lots questions which normal i answer. Middle shy and quite type and thinking all more. Younger is confidence and more naughty but with odd funny phrase or action. Do trust own instints because most of time parent is right.

And if I'm on the wrong track and going off on a tangent or reading too much into this, I apologise. But I do think your opinion is of paramount importance, and I hope that you realise that too. I remember when my son was first born and I was very uncertain and my husband seemed so certain (he was already a parent) and I found it very hard to trust my own judgement and it made me feel very sad and terribly responsible and hopeless. Thankfully I had an excellent health visitor, and she was able to help me find my confidence. So if I'm sensitive to your feelings here, it's only down to my own experience of feeling overruled as a mother, which my husband did not directly intend but that was the outcome anyway, when in fact I knew my son better than anyone else did. It just took someone else to help me see that. I hope that you're not in that kind of place at the moment. I'd like to feel reassured about that.

Of course there's nothing wrong with getting a second opinion if you feel that the advice you've been given is somehow wrong. In fact that would be eminently sensible. My question is, do you think the doctor was wrong? I think it's important, because I suspect a number of different opinions would have appeared if people thought you did agree (whether in part or in entirety) with what the doctor said. So in that respect the opinion of the 'majority' is only valid if their advice would be exactly the same if they knew you weren't in entire agreement with Virgil. Those brief comments I referred to indicate that might be the case, though it's not entirely clear.

Hi pussnboots. Re Virgil's blog and your latest comments, I just wanted to say that I wish you would put your perspective forward. I hope the opinions expressed in response to the blog haven't somehow overriden your own views on the upbringing of your child. How you feel about it is much greater importance than the views of people who, with the best will in the world, cannot really know and understand the dynamics of your family life because they have not seen it for themselves or been involved in it. The same comment applies to your doctor. You should always view what the doctors say in the context of your own opinion. You're doubtless a concerned and caring and diligent mother, and you're probably the best judge of what feels right and what feels like a crock than anyone else is. You spend the most time with Matthew, and there's no substitute for that.

Hi Puss, I just wanted to check in and let you know I was thinking of you. I'm not sure if my blog response portrayed that in Virgil's blog entry. I know how hard you two are working at parenting. I'm exhausted.

Have you seen the weather prediction for my area? I'm wondering if what is heading toward us will make it to you. Some are preducting 12-18 inches of ice and snow here. I choose to listen to those predicting 2-4. We'll see what happens. But you know once the storm has visited here she will probably pop in on you for a much longer stay.

One Year Ago Today

by pussnboots on 05-18-2011 at 06:50 AM
One year ago today my husband and I fell in love with a very special little boy. It is still so fresh in my mind. I remember being nervous and excited all at the same time. The nurse bringing him into the room and placing him in my arms, our hearts just melted and we knew right away this was our son. It took us 3 long years but he was well worth the wait!!!.

They proceeded to tell us his medical history and his background of how he came to be at the Baby House. I cannot thank

Early Intervention

by pussnboots on 03-21-2011 at 02:14 PM
We have decided to go ahead and see if Matthew really needs Early Intervention. Does this mean that we feel Matthew needs it? No, not necessarily but we owe it to him to find out. Our pediatrician filed the paperwork for us and last week I met with someone.

The woman came to the house and walked me thru the process. The next step in the process is having Matthew evaluated. This will take place this Thursday in our home. I’m actually glad that they come to me so they can see

Matthew’s Eye Surgery

by pussnboots on 03-17-2011 at 02:26 PM
As many of you know, Matthew has strabismus (crossed eyes) and his surgery to correct this is tomorrow. It will be done in the morning and should be home later that day. We have to be at the hospital at 8:00 AM and the poor little guy can’t have anything to eat after midnight tonight and can’t have anything to drink after 6:00 AM the morning of the surgery. If I do give him something to drink it can only be water, pedialyte or apple juice.

The surgery itself usually takes 20

Follow Up to Virgil’s Last Blog on Matthew

by pussnboots on 02-07-2011 at 08:34 AM
Initially I was going to do a follow-up blog from Virgil’s blog about Matthew and the pediatrician, then I changed my mind. Fifth and Jersea convinced me to respond from my perspective. I do not mean to offend anyone with my comments (just want that to be clear) after all I am the one that spends most of the time with Matthew everyday (no offense Virgil) and I think I know him best.

Most of what Virgil stated is fairly accurate. At this point in time I am not too disturbed with

The Great Whiz

by pussnboots on 09-19-2010 at 08:33 PM
Before we put Matthew to bed every night, Daddy plays with him to tire him out some more. Well tonight something funny happened and am glad to announce that it didn't happen to me (at least not yet). Here's the background:

Daddy: I think he peed
Me: OK, just let me get his jammies and I'll change him

I put Matthew down and start taking off his diaper.

Me: OMG!! Matthew what did you do ?
Daddy: Did he pee ?
Me: He crapped and it's
