The Day the Earth Stood Still! I wanted to see that, is Keanu's performance any better than his previous movies? I have to admit he is fine but I am not sure about his acting skills..I think it can be better.

What exactly is a night school? Is this in university? 6books is a good start, it is better than an average person, I think the average person reads 6books a year.. may be I am wrong!

I put my resolution in the chat thread, and heres some of mine
    1.Lose around 2kg
2.save money for first yr at uni, not spending too much on shopping and going out
3.read a book a day during the holidays
    4.practise cello everyday
5.finish art on time for a competition
6.get the best possible results at uni
    7.stop being too loud.
8.simply being a better person, avoiding same mistakes and regrets felt and done at 2008.
I think new years resolutions are effective for about a couple of months and it loses its stimulation of motivation..I agree that I can never stick to them for the whole year but who would anyway!?

Wow! As much as I love the summer, I really look forward to it being not so hot! Although I know as soon as we get to winter I'll start missing the heat . And my new year was pretty quiet too, but it's seeming to be a good year so far

Twelfth Night is an excellent play and put on around Christmas. Actually it refers to the twelve days of Christmas I think, though I don't recall anything in the play referring to Christmas. Let me know once you read it if there is any reference to Christmas inside the play. Oh you know you can get all of Shakespeare's plays on the internet. I sometimes print them out because it's easier to read from the pages than from my big tome of all of Shakespeare's plays. But they web sites don't have any notes on the outdated words, at least not the websites I have found.

Happy New Year Jo. I leave you with a present: http://es.youtube.com/watch?v=eG3afAIi6IQ. Now I'm not sure I like the back beat they put to it, but the video is fabulous.

Jo, make sure you have a Shakespeare edition that provides notes to the outdated words. And if you had an edition that explained a few of the obscure things that would help also. The problem some people have with Shakespeare is not understanding outdated language and elements. Once you get beyond that, he's actually quite easy.

Hi Jo, thanks for befriending me, its very nice of you.
The new year was great for me, I spent the first day of 2009 with my family, grandparents and cousins family, feasting out. Still full from that massive dinner..
How about you? Did you make some new year's resolutions?

Where have I been and what the hell have I been doing?

by Joreads on 12-03-2012 at 01:00 AM
I recently came back to the forum and I was horrified to realize it had been nearly two years since I had been here. What on earth had I been doing with my time a thought that has been increasingly bothering me?

Well in my defense in December 2011 I graduated uni after seven long years, working fulltime and studying part time was not always easy . 2012 is a different story there is no in “ my defence “ answer other than, it took me about four months to get use to the fact that I

Why are we all so time poor

by Joreads on 03-25-2009 at 01:08 AM
I caught up with some of my girl friends a few weekends ago and the one thing we all had in common was the phrase “I am so busy” It got me wondering why it is that we are all so time poor these days. We have more time saving devices than I am sure my grandmother would ever have dreamed of, dishwashers, microwaves, washing machines and I could go on and yet I would hazard a guess that we are the generation that will be judged as the most time poor in history.

Is that as women we

by Joreads on 03-09-2009 at 12:24 AM
So I really didn’t have enough on my plate what with working, university, book club and my volunteering so of course when I was asked if I wanted to start a movie club my answer was yes why not. Well we into our second month and I am loving it. We meet on the second Friday of the month at someone’s house we watch a movie and then discuss it. Oh of course there is great food and wine as well.
What movies do we watch – well this will not surprise some of you reading this blog but our

A sad sad day

by Joreads on 02-08-2009 at 01:43 AM
It has just been announced on the news that 38 people have lost their lives in the bush fires that are ablaze in NSW and Victoria at the moment, and 100 famlies are now without homes. It is so bad that the Prime Minster has just mobilized the army to help fight the fires and give fire fighters a much need rest.

My family and I are safe and far away from the fires but that was not the case three years ago and watching the fires in the TV today I could taste the fear again. So I

Its my kind of club

by Joreads on 01-28-2009 at 07:37 PM
Last night was the first meeting for 2009 for my book club. We are a ten women strong and range in age from 37 to 78. Each month we read a book and get together to discuss it. It never ceases to amaze me that even though we have all read the same book we all take something different away from them.
There are some strong voices among us and the debate can get quite lively but once the jug has been boiled and the coffee, tea and cake served the laughing returns to the group. We come in
