Hey! your profile is so much brighter and attractive. I think the apostrophe has been around much longer than the semi colon - and therefore has suffered more! hope to see you around.

Yes, I know. When I started listening to Metal, some years ago, it was indeed difficult for me to get used to the death grunts. Simone has an angeling voice, though.

Sorry Andave, At work on a 10 hour shift and I'm moody to boot so probaby not a good idea. I'm of next Thursday - Sunday if you like. You are missed but I have been far from being a happy camper lately and don't wish to spread the madness but thanks.

I would call it a print since I collect plates with prints, actually you can look into my album and see the type I collect - they are English Transferware Ironstone. I mentioned somewhere in the one thread that my sister had a plate with a illustration on it - not sure now if it was Maxfield Parrish or Norman Rockwell - both have appeared on plates. I will see if I can locate that print that you mention, the one on your plate. Glad you are going to check out the threads - you might want to check all three I mentioned. If you need the links, let me know.

It is indeed; you have a good eye for artists. I found it while trying to find a nice Thanksgiving Day illustration for my profile photo. I laughed when I saw it and thought - perfect for the night of or the day after. I feel exactly like that today - sort of all cooked out and washed up! . My mother has had this figurine of Santa for years; he is collapsed and one his sign is printed Dec. 26th. My mother just loves that figurine so much. It does make one laugh or sigh....This Rockwell reminded me of that one, so I used it. I will change it by the weekend. This brings up a good subject andave ya, have you been in my illustration threads I started? There are three - one for Literature, one for Children and one for Shakespeare. If you like Rockwell, I did post some more pictures the other day in one of the threads...think the Children's Book Illustration thread; if you need the link, let me know. I think you would very much enjoy the artwork we posted so far in each. There is some great visual stuff in there! Soon I will enter some Rockwell Christmas Illustrations - they are so 'jolly' ..hhaaha...most have Santa pictured in them.

Something (attempting to be) Profound. For Virgil :D

by andave_ya on 06-08-2011 at 12:55 PM
In many of his books, the famous Russian novelist Fyodor Dostoevsky lays out, in fiction, ideas that he has struggled through and resolved. In The Brothers Karamazov, his classic novel of ideas, he boldly explores several philosophical issues by creating a dialogue between each side. Especially in books V and VI, he deals with the question of what it means to love humanity by a dialogue between Ivan and Alyosha. In the two chapters, two understandings of both love and humility and their interactions

Am I back? Maybe. This is mostly about Harry Potter, btw.

I turned twenty a little over a month ago. I think twenty DOES feel different from the teenage years, although that's probably psychological. However, I do think I turned into an adult somewhere in the past school year. The change isn't really earth-shattering or radical or anything, but I like it.

Heh. I was praying and thinking this morning and realized I wanted to blog but somehow fell out of the mood. I wanted to talk about how I've changed, what I've learned about myself over

I'm in a writery mood today

by andave_ya on 11-20-2010 at 11:32 PM
Have you ever remembered a dream that you had, and then it won't leave you the rest of the day?

"I dreamed that I carried someone,
But I forgot I dreamed until the jolt of remembered memory stole my breath away, like the silence of snowfall.
There was a man and he leaned on me. I
still feel him in my arms.
And all today the phantom has remained by my side
like the rose upon the rood of time.
I offer this poem as homage - and

Old Devil Rain

Sigh.
Step outside and blow a raspberry
under my umbrella.
Trudge all the way to Founders'
and shake myself like a dog because
my umbrella's too cheap.
Sit in class, miffed at needing artificial light at 12:20 PM.
Class over. Outside, and sigh again.
No.
STOP.
Huff another sigh, and close my umbrella.
"Look here, you!" Fist shaking at the sky.
"You're dismal and depressing and make me miserable.

Frankenstein

by andave_ya on 09-26-2010 at 11:17 PM
Just curious...what do you think about him? I'm reading him for Western Lit II currently, and writing a paper on it. I read it over the summer and enjoyed it, but now upon rereading...I think Victor Frankenstein is a melodramatic jerk.
