Haven't seen you around much lately. Just wanted to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas.

if you were asked to do something that you wouldn't think of doing, what would you do? it is of course inexplicable as you would either do it out of any reason for a fact that the situation is granting you or you would not simply do it because you just don't. it's seems so stupid of me to ask if i knew the answer myself; however, i would still like to pace back and ask if there were really only two options i had then? how about you?

I don't read much on art either, but Magritte really intrigues me. I don't really agree with art that relies on informed viewers. It seems like a crutch for a painting to obtain significance through things outside of itself, but that's me.

When that day comes, the link will be here:
    The Manifesto of Surrealism

I haven't seen any other films of Bunuel, but it is an interesting title.
I have never heard of Carlos Saura; I'll look into, thanks.

I've recently read the Manifesto of Surrealism by Breton, so I've really been getting into surrealism. Magritte is like the Camus of surrealism: while Camus insisted that he was an absurdist and not an existentialist, Magritte stated he was not a surrealist ... but I don' know how he defined himself. I've always considered him a meta-artist. Have you seen the short film Un chien andalou?

Thanks. I looked through the book and I was surprised that a lot of the passages were funny. Surrealist art is the only art that I really "get", so it's natural that I'm a fan I guess and although I prefer Magritte's compositions, Dali is a master craftsman.

Dali was definitely a character. Here is a funny moment:

Sorry about posting on the wrong page. I'm still still a little unsure about visitor message etiquette. Anyway, thanks for the message and the interest in the Chekhov discussion. It's always nice to meet Russian Lit fans.

As a matter of fact I am quite pleased to be added as a friend. Thank you. And yes, I would love to discuss the movie with you when you have time to see it. I understand the being too busy part very well. I hope you like it. And the wallpaper designs are useful-and quite beautiful, too! Have a lovely day, and don't forget to take some time for yourself!

Returning to LitNet

by Alexei on 09-11-2008 at 04:17 PM
This was a pretty though year so I wasn't around a lot. Mostly I was posting in the BookClub threads and I was taking long leaves of absence After the last one I am a bit confused - I found so many interesting changes.

I am glad I am back, because I actually missed this place, but it turns out I don't know a lot about it any more. The new members for example - there are so many new users (don't get me wrong this is great , i am just in some strange

Some Questions

by Alexei on 03-04-2007 at 07:18 AM
Well, I finally finish the letter of thanks. Now I am freeeeeeee!!! (at least till I realize I have to study for Monday)

The reason to bore you to death once again with my blog is that I finished The Stranger (what a impressing deed, the book has only 95 pages ). Any way, this reading left me with the irresistible desire to write (for your unhappiness). That way it reflect my thoughts was too much normal in its appropriation. Like usually with similar books I think only for it,

A strange mood

by Alexei on 03-02-2007 at 04:42 PM
I have always wanted to have a blog, so why not here? I don’t think I am going to post here my new short stories, only because I am too lazy to translate them on English. Still, there are some days when I have a need to write and then I shall write down my thoughts here. If you don’t find it boring to read the thoughts of one teenager, please, read.
So let’s start today…
There are so many things I want to say and not to say. For instance I am scared to death by the idea I have to
