The Open Boat

by godhelpme2 on 06-11-2007 at 12:05 PM
Stephen Crane's The Open Boat is really worth reading!
It's just like watching a movie, and you wil find it hard to forget it!
The ferociously yelling seawater and the crew members struggle against it are just too vivid to wave away from my mind.
Nature here is indifferent and man's power is too little to conquer it.
What man has to do in danger of nature is to strive to accomply it, never against it, for man is too powerless in the life-threatening situation.

The black female writer Alice Walker's work-The Color Purple, a fascinating one. The writing style is quite new and surprisingly special.
Every part of the novel is begun with the writing style of letter-writing.

"Idiot"

by godhelpme2 on 04-17-2007 at 10:43 AM
I've finally finished the very thick book "Idiot" written by Russian writer Fyodor Dostovesky in 1869.
The hero Prince Myshkin is in all people's eye an idiot, however, it is all of them idiots truly refer to.
He is the kindest and frankest and mildest one in the novel but weak in power to change the bad destines of people he loves.
Everybody in the novel has his or her distinctive and conspicous personality, and the vividness in their talk and deed can't help you

by godhelpme2 on 04-05-2007 at 09:11 AM
I feel quite disappointed of myself
In today's Advanced Interpretation Class, i felt my ability of simultaneous interpretation is totally rubbish
I know it's quite a challenge for everyone to interprete fast and well, however, i just have such a short memory that i cannot remember the exact words spoken seconds before for i have to wait for other words to come.
This course is too difficult for me now. I even feel frightful. God bless me!

Carson McCullers

by godhelpme2 on 04-02-2007 at 10:19 AM
I came across Carson McCullers' The Heart is A Lonely Hunter' days ago and was instantly attracted by the title.
Yesterday, in the reading room, these similar appeared before my eyes again, only this book was about her biography.
She is quite special and somewhat strange in others' eyes, especially the ones living near her. She loves wearing like a man not as ordinary girls do,besides, she is addicted to smoking and drinking. She doesn't want to be involved in a crowd but rather leave
