Hi Quark--Glad to hear you're interested. I had been thinking of maybe (re)reading our way through together, hence starting off with canto 1, but at this point I'm mostly interested to see who's interested and open to framing the discussion in whatever way makes the most sense for participants. An advantage to working our way through slowly would be that people who haven't read the Inferno already can join in too.

I enjoy LitNet very much I'm glad to have found a new outlet, and new people with the same tastes.

Just wanted to stop by and say that it's a pleasure to read your posts. In particular you wrote a very enlightening post in a recent Dickens thread, where you point out a parody of Arnold in Great Expectations that I would never have picked up.

    Hey Quark!

Why don't you post a link to the discussion in the poll thread?

That way people might find it easily

part 2...Quark, I didn't take whatever you wrote offensively. I am not sure now what you did say. I just feel badly (guilty, too) that I can't seem to get this next story off the ground. I just realised this weekend is Easter. How in the heck did that happen? I just wish I was feeling better, because I feel it's holding me up from doing a lot of things I love. I even miss the Chekhov discussions. I am enjoying the boxed set of his plays; need to watch the rest of those. Most of this week I had to give feeling ill and just rest; and that did help some. Hopefully that will do the trick. I should be in bed by now. It's late here. Did you get around to reading 'The Prussian Officer' yet?

Thanks for looking at the videos. I think she is pretty cute, too. She really does have a ton of personality. I was over to play with her and I took some videos myself, but I am not yet too proficient with the video part of my camera. Also kids that age move so quickly. I enjoyed watching them on the computer when I got home, but oddly enough she was not so lively that night; she was more introspective and subdued. I still had a great time with her...and finally my son got her dancing some...she loves that. How nice to be the uncle of a little one this age. They are really something aren't they? They are all different. Perhaps your neice will love Chekhov someday...the little philosopher...that is cute. haha

Sorry I failed to get back to you. I have not been feeling well for over a year. It seems I have recurrent bladder infections but I am sick of taking antibiotics. I thought I was having a recurance on the weekend so I just rested a lot and had a bland akayline diet and so far I am feeling much better. Other than that I went to see my granddaughter a week or so ago. Did you see the videos in "pictures taken by you" thread? My son took those awhile back. She loves to dance. She will be 2 in May. Can't believe the time went by so quickly.

Sorry I didn't get the L thread up and running. I was taken with this extreme pain, but now it's much better so lets hope for the best.

The truth is, I don't have the time either. I started to enter into the current discussion on "Villette" and I can't really get into the novel right now. I have been like this for awhile. I have accomplished some short fiction; but not enough to mention. I just bought some collections of short stories. I still need to read the 'coffee stain' book collection you sent me. I also bought a book of 10 Chekhov plays. I am sort of into the plays now; although, I think they depress me sometimes. I just watched the BBC production of "Three Sisters". It was really good and the acting very well done. It just left me feeling so helpless and sad. When one is feeling 'winter gloomy', I guess these are not the best things to uplift one's spirits. Still I do see the brillance in them. I also watched a commentary last night on Chekhov; how Michael Pennington played him onstage in London - a one man production. It had some excerpts. They were quite interesting.

I asked a couple people about the poll but they didn't want to commit to another book right now. I guess it's doomed to lose. Oh well, maybe later on we can discuss it on our own.
