Thanks. I've just started showing again. I have two of the works at a local college exhibition. They earned an award and the wife insisted I pose with it before the works in question.

Now the best "award" would be to start selling these works.

Congratulations, stlukes! They look great in the exhibit.

"Now the best "award" would be to start selling these works."

Yes, isn't this the truth? Always is!

    CONGRATULATIONS stlukes!

The paintings seem to come alive under the gallery lights! It's like a doorway to a different room!

    Bravo!

Congratulations!!! They definitely pop out against the wall and next to those other paintings.

The gallery you are showing at looks EXACTLY like the one on OU's campus.

awesome, I always wanted to meet other Artist!
I knew how to draw before I knew my ABC's and 1,2,3's.
It's my favorite passion secondary to writing.
My favorite is Mythical & Animals.
I use every thing available & mix. I find it works best to get an image to stand out.

Very nice work and congrats stlukes!
Is it hard to get a gallery preview?
I always wanted to try, at least once in my lifetime.

I can see this group is quiet but I'll post anyway. For now, I'll just say that I think the two greatest living artists are Ellsworth Kelly and Pierre Soullage.

St Lukes' paintings are intriguing, there's a mystical quality to the figures that remind me of poems and dreams (separate from what may have inspired them) and certainly well executed - I can tell much time has been spent and none spared to get the balance of form right, and they work as cryptic triptychs also, which is no mean feat

The years of dedication and patience have clearly payed off

You say you hoped they'd sell, I hope so too, that being the goal - I expect they did, and I agree the gold leaf looks great - the camera has managed to capture the effect well, which may be the pronounced absolute of using the metal

I've been wary of going beyond Jo Sonja's series 2 gold and silver, and the iridescents, because of cost mainly, but now I see the result I think I'll make the investment

One of the big problems of attempting to be a professional artist is that everything new has to compete with everything old - art is prospective, taste is retrospective - and often the audience expects more of their favorite period than one's own, which is usually the current period - as your style changes you can only hope that there'll be enough of a following prepared to keep up

So it's not entirely competition from other artists but one's personal back catalog that they must compete with

I'm going through a semi-Buddhist phase about commercialism at present - money would be nice, but it's not the reason for me to create - and in fact I think I'd rather help other artists create at present because other's art is what amazes me and I love being amazed

I don't mind amazing people myself, if I do something amazing this is all wel and good, but I rarely feel it myself and if I do I'm usually wrong

Anyway everyone - that's my little natter for the day, I'm off to get some gold leaf!
