Quite poignant. Always the eternal optimist believing the government save them; “The powers that be will get to us in the end”. They certainly did! Interesting technique blending animation with stop motion photography. Never heard of it until now. Did the movie have much of a showing over there at the time it was released ? Great choice.

Never too late; watch and post! The ending kills me. I watched it on TV (was not in the UK in 1986) so not sure whether it had much showing when released.
