Egla and crossword puzzles

I went to a book market yesterday, they have it twice a year and I have been counting the days for longer than I'm willing to admit. I bought 14 books, mainly for school. When I came home I wondered if I'm a good mom, I bought 4 books for my son, one is math with stickers, woohooo, another has crosswords and all sorts of mind games, then Egilssaga for kids and a book about the Loki and Þór and all the gods in Valhalla. He'll appreciate it when he grows up, I hope. He was very happy about the book with crosswords and all that. He is with his dad so I'll read Egil next week.

I did buy 3 more children books but they will be in my bookcase, one is by James Joyce, another by Isaac Bashevis Singer and the third was an anniversary edition of Wind in the Willows, very beautiful and I can't wait to read it for my son. the rest were for school or written by my teachers.

I felt so guilty yesterday, I was looking forward to a weekend alone, all alone, my brother is with his girlfriend and my boy with his dad. Well, when his dad came the boy wouldn't let go of me, for the first time he didn't want to go. Last time he was there he wasn't very happy about things, they didn't do anything and he said his dad never plays with him. If you don't have anything to do and no chance of meeting kids for 3 days you have to play with the kid!! His wife's son watches tv almost all day and my boy is just not like that.

Well, this is life. I had my big test the other day and exactly 23 hours later I got my grade. Over 60 people took the test and the teacher must have just spent the whole night going over them. I am as always right in the middle, a mediocre student. I do want to get higher grades it's just when you read all day and then take care of the kid and the house I just don't always want to start reading again when he goes to bed. My brain can't take it in and I just read the same page again and again. I try to take 2 nights a week with just books but no more unless I have to finish a project or something like that.

Well life is what happens to other people while I sit and watch tv or read. Someday I might want to join but for now I'll stick to my books.

Choose not to feel guilty and revel in your precious time! You certainly deserve that, Helga. Oh, I hope he like The Wind in the Willows. I adore that book. It is the best book ever, and Toad is so hilarious., isn't he?

And remember Desiderata? I know it's philosophy lite, but I love it and I always remember this line:

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

    And this one, too, Helga:

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

Oh definitely don't feel guilty. Raising your son is way more important.
