Exiled in a kilt

Promotion of hooliganism

Rate this Entry
Ok, there was a tv show made in the UK a few years ago called "The Football Factories" and it is presented by a cockney ponce called Danny Dyer who basically goes around the world kissing the feet of idiots whose sole reason for going to the game is to have a fight.

This program has recently started getting shown over here on The Score (a sports network that recently got the rights to show 1 EPL game a week). I understand they must have received complaints recently, because before they show the program now they make a point of saying that they are not glorifying the "soccer casual" culture, but just attempting to show a part of following football. I believe them, when they say promotion of it is not their intentiion, unfortunately however, it is the main part of the show.

During the show, Mr.Dyer goes around talking to the hooligans about how they get an adrenalin rush from the violence, there is no questioning about the lives of ordinary fans ruined by these idiots, and in one clip when he discusses with one of them about how he got arrested for his crimes Dyer's tone is more of sympathy/consolation thet he got caught!

The show is pathetic and needs to be taken off the air.

However, I wouldnt want you to take my view alone on the matter, here are links to the one episode on you-tube so you can see what I mean:

When you think you've seen it all!! Another new low for entertaining the masses. I'll stick to reading 2000 AD for mindless violence.

Wow... this is sad. It's even sadded because it's not a result of the Hollywood writer's strike.

I can't believe how sympathetic to the hooligans he comes off! That's pretty messed up. I had to laugh at that end bit where they're all being celebrated as writers. Who knew the next Shakespeare was really a football hooligan?

I can't believe it either. How irresponsible. We Americans mostly have this image of Britains as out if a BBC Jane Austen movie. We don't usually get xposed to the grittier side.
