Christmas In Fallujah
It’s evening in the desert
I’m tired and I’m cold
But I am just a soldier
I do what I am told
We came with the crusaders
To save the holy land
It’s Christmas in Fallujah
And no one gives a damn
And I just got your letter
And this is what I read, you said
I’m fading from your memory
So I’m just as good as dead
We are the armies of the empire
We are the legionnaires of Rome
It’s Christmas in Fallujah
And we ain’t never coming home
We came to bring these people freedom
We came to fight the infidel
There is no justice in the desert
Because there is no God in hell
They say Osama’s in the mountains
Deep in a cave near Pakistan
But there’s a sea of blood in Baghdad
A sea of oil in the sand
Between the Tigris and Euphrates
Another day comes to an end
It’s Christmas in Fallujah
Peace on Earth, goodwill to men
It’s Christmas in Fallujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah

Criticism and analysis :
1. In the first stanza he said that he was just a soldier obeying the orders. It is right in the military tradition.
2- in the second stanza he said (We came with the crusaders
To save the holy land). It expresses the real intention of US to invade Iraq under the umbrella of crusade campaign across history and all their battles to defeat Islam. Then he said " to save the holy land' this can interpret the fact beyond the crusade campaign that Iraq or any area in the middle east is their heritage and can overcome and invade any country at any time they wish in the east.
3- in the third stanza said (We are the legionnaires of Rome) which it is without doubt a confession that US and any part of West still consider Rome the source of their belief and should do what the churches of Rome advise.
4- He said (But there’s a sea of blood in Baghdad
A sea of oil in the sand)
This implies that they fear of Baghdad and could know a fierce battle wait them here or there but they hope to control on Iraq resources of oil and it would be then the compensation to their bleeding blood.
5. We came to bring these people freedom
We came to fight the infidel
There is no justice in the desert
Because there is no God in hell
Which freedom they are talking about ? is it the unwilling freedom to invade a country and steal its resources, destroying its factories, destroying all its infrastructure, killing its people?
Then he said (We came to fight the infidel). Which infidel he talked about? Or , who is the real infidel, the one who comes far along to invade a country and destroy its historical monuments or who is brave enough and fight against the invader?
