Halls of the Dark Muse

I mentioned a while back that the hard drive on my computer went out, and my cousin was working on it. And he is a nice guy, and good with computers but not always the most reliable person in the world and so after he took my computer months would go by without hearing anything back from him about it. And then first he said that he had an old hard drive he could use on it, but he could not find a case to put the hard drive in that would fit inside the computer (it is a lap top) so then he said he could do it as an external hard drive, and last I heard for him the computer was ready to go, but then silence again.

Then when I finally heard from him again he said that he decided it would be too difficult to do the external hard drive because it would have to be plugged into like three different things, and he thought he could get the original hard drive working. So ok fine, then he said he was going to have to get a brand new hard drive for it.

Needless to say finally on the Fourth of July he brings my computer over and it is working, but he took it upon himself to install Windows Vista on the computer which I did not particularly want and was not enthused about, and I even mentioned to him I did not like Vista, but nothing could be done about it now, and at least I had a computer that worked.

Well now it turns out I think he illegally installed the Windows Vista system on my computer, because when you buy it you are only supposed to use it for one computer, so I think he just used a copy he already had, and had been used and put it on my computer, because I started getting these messages saying Windows Could not activate because the Product Key was already in use, and I had to provide another one, and I had 30 days to activate.

I get in touch with my cousin about it, and do not hear anything back (probably because he knows he illegally installed and does not have a valid product key for it) and I am going to be leaving for vacation soon and my 30 days is almost up so I just go online and look up how much a new product key would cost and I find this web site that says I can get one for 31.99 and I think well that is not too bad, I am just going to buy it and be done with it.

So I ordered it online and hopefully it is legit and not some sort of scam, though if it is a scam the joke is on them since I am not really worth scamming, they are not going to get a whole lot out of me.
