Halls of the Dark Muse

Fire!

Rate this Entry
I had quite the adventure last night. I was laying in bed, have no idea what time it is, half-way between sleeping and waking, when I hear this strange noise. To me it first it sounds like water. It almost sounded like pipe or something broke because it was just this whooshing sound. I look out my bedroom window but of course I don't see anything and thought I am trying to figure out what the noise could be, I don't think much of it, it is not really unusual to hear strange sounds around here at all hours of the day or night. I often joke that my neighbors must be vampires or werewolves because of their seemingly nefarious nocturnal activities.

So I am trying to go back to sleep when my dad starts running down the hall yelling fire, so then I am like what the hell? I jump out of bed and scramble to get dressed and have no idea what is going on, for all I know the house is on fire. I make my way down the hall and everyone else is heading outside, and the first thing I think of is the kitten who is in the garage so I go out there to get him. I look around and he isn't in any of his usual sleeping spots so I start to call him and at first I cannot find him, and at this point I have no idea how long I have until my impending death, I am about to just open the garage so at least he will be able to escape on his own if need be when finally sleepy eyed and drowsy he appears. I pick him up and head back into the house, and by this point though I am still not sure what is happening it does not seem like our house is about to burn to the ground at least, and I realized when I jumped up out of bed I did not think to put on my glasses so I go and get them and then head outside.

As it turns out apparently the fence between our yard and the neighbors was on fire, and though I do not know exactly what happened, our neighbor does a lot of wielding and between out driveway and theirs, there is this patch of dirt, where he parks his truck, which is filled with his wielding gear, and tanks of fuel and such, and so the fire started over there somehow.

I don't know my neighbor that well but he seems to have way too much drama going on. A couple months or so ago I hear a sudden knock at the door and answer it and it is the police, now I am pretty sure I did not do anything wrong, but as an Italian, seeing the police at the door is not something you want. Did the government track me down because of something I posted online, or google searched that looked suspicious? Well as it turns out, apparently the same neighbor said that his tires had been slashed and the cops were just asking if we saw or heard anything suspicious.

Well now if he is to believed he claims that someone started the fire, and he does pal around with someone who was recently released from like San Quentin.

Sounds like there's always something cookin' at the Dark Muse residence. No, really, I'm glad everyone is ok, and I'm especially glad that you have your priorities in order when it comes to your lifesaving skills, DM!

Yes it can be crazy around here. My animals are my babies. After I got the kitten, I was thinking in the back of my mind about how I would get the snake out of the house, becaue I couldn't carry the cat and the snake at the same time, but thankfully it did not come to that.

Now DM, we're not all gangsters. I certainly don't mind if the police come to my house.

LOL well I do actually do come from a family of gangsters. My mom said that the very first time she watched the Godfather movie, it was like it watching her own family.

Oh except for the gangster part, The Godfather really does resonate with my family too.
