Just Let Me Save the Ice Cream

Heh. Went shopping today. All was pretty normal. Just as we're almost home we notice a neighbouring street is blocked off by a police van. Interesting......
Oh. Hang on. Before that.
Last night we were playing Scrabble again. It was quite late, sometime after 11pm or so. We were about half way through the game when we heard a lot of shouting outside. Seems someone was having an argument. Yuki ran to the door because strange voices get her excited. I wanted to see what was going on but I didn't really care, besides, the last thing angry people need is someone watching them, they tend to take things out on the spectators. I was a bit worried because we were ,playing on my desk which is right by the window but all was fine. One of the parties left while the other shouted get back here to no avail and all was fine.
Now then. Today we were just coming back from shopping. Almost at our street and we find the neighbouring street was blocked by a police van. The one on the other side was also blocked so we went further round to one that wasn't blocked but were stopped just short of our destination. We pointed out that we lived in the street just ahead of our position abd couldn't we just park the car and leave but the officer wouldn't let us. Really that road we came down should've been blocked too but apparently they police didn't have enough people. That was the only one not blocked off by a vehicle.
We had ice cream in the back and some meat that needed putting away as soon as possible but we couldn't get to our street. We turned round and went back for a while. This was all due to a "firearms incident". We waited a while in a rather disadvantageous place until I convinced mum to go closer to the police cordon so we would know when they left. We had no way of knowing in our current location.
On our way back round to the cordon I spied the river walk and wanted to walk on it as we were there. All the years I've been here and I've never walked along it. To be honest it's not actually a river. It was artificially created to bring fresh water to the communities further inwards. A pretty amazing thing really. Mum agreed to the idea while we were waiting to get to our street. I thought it would be even better if we could walk Yui along it, mum sometimes takes her that way for her morning walk. It took a while to find a parking space and when we finally found one and got out the police started to move off. Typical. What I found most ridiculous was that some people were sat on chairs at the corner of the street, watching. Not sure what for, nothing happened.
When the police left mum got back in the car and drove it home, I walked because I wanted to see Yui as quickly as possible. She was even more excited to see me than usual and kept whining. She does that sometimes when one of us comes home but not so much with me. Mainly because I only go outside (without the dog) once a week. I put her lead on as mum parked the car and took Yui out to greet her. She was really excited. We brought the shopping in and then took Yui straight out and walked along the river. I kept thinking that she must have been so scared but of course not. Knowing her she would've been excited to hear all the noise outside.
It turns out that no firearms were used, I don't think any were found and this was all due to a "malicious phone call". What a waste of police time and resources. It also seems that this was somehow related to the events of last night. Ridiculous. But, this means that our street was the epicentre of the incident. That's why we couldn't park and then leave. We did not expect that. Nothing really ever happens here. Anyway. It's all fine for now.
Bluebiird out.
Also. I had a great idea this morning. Once human cloning is perfected and scientists find a way of accelerating human growth then I've come up with the solution to the problems of everyone who is unlucky in love. Grow Your Own Husband/Wife. Pick out the genetic and personality traits you want in your ideal partner and watch it grow in the allotted time. I'm thinking a week is a little too quick. Maybe a year would be more realistic. Although, the product would surely have to be fertile. I think ensuring a fertile human clone would be even more difficult than an infertile one. If you buy a Grow Your own partner you may want offspring, you may not. Maybe you could adopt instead. It would be easier if the product were incapable of breeding. But if that's the case then why not develop companion robots instead? What would be easier I wonder? Making a machine that passed for a human both in looks, actions and personality or cloning genetically engineered humans? Hmmm. It's quite a puzzle.
