Hi all. Just a very quick update. My computer is crashed for an indefinite period, so I can only come here on computer lab computers. Also I got a job at a bindery which is one of the hardest jobs I've had, mostly because it requires working 12 hour shifts. By the way, if you have any magazine subscriptions, unsubscribe! Just get your info through the internet and books. I could go into the reasons but let's just say, having seen the production process, it leaves me with a revulsion for the whole schebang. Churning out bundles at break neck speed, continuously, never stopping, with the workers working 12 hours shifts.. all so you can have something pretty and full of ads to rove your eyes over at the doctor's office, because you couldn't be bothered to bring a book... ah, I went into that backwards and it was probably less effective because of it. Those were my reasons anyway. . . and it's not that I'm really concerned about it. . . I can't change the world but at least I can say something about it, at least. . that's all I can do, or that's all I will do. I do care, enough to say something about it; but not enough to continue thinking about it.

Anyway, as my job takes up so much of my time, and also that I have to go to the computer lab to get online, (except right now I'm at home but I won't make it a habit of using my roommate's computer) I won't be around as much. But on my days off I'll still go and get online and visit here.

Hope you all are happy and well!

Namo Amituofo!

I'll look forward to reading you posts, Nik. Work is work; it's good to be employed.

Yes it is. About the magazines, I just thought I would say something; otherwise it's not on my mind. Yeah this is the toughest job I've ever had - hard labor at a frenetic pace - but don't get me wrong, I love it. There's a lot of benefit to be had from hard work, in fact genuinely spiritual, if you maintain a clear and positive frame of mind. I've never worked 12 hour shifts, either, and that leaves a precious 4 hours of time to do anything in personal time; but the upshot of that, too, is that time is much more valuable to you then.

Work is always good Nik. Be grateful you have a job. Look for another if you don't like it, but don't in heaven's name quit first. One should always be working.

As to the magazines, what's the big deal? What did you expect that they be stitched by hand? Anyway the internet is destroying the whole newspaper and magazine business.

Sorry I didn't see your comment sooner Virgil. Yeah, you didn't see me say "I love it." :]

About the magazines; well, I know, and as I said, I said something but after that I forgot it, I've done my part. Thing is, the waste just pains me, almost literally. And I don't know if this is normal for places that produce, but in my experience it's very normal. I guess corporations can't help it, they're blind entities. But it could be a better way.
