It is the End of the World and I Feel Fine

Rate this Entry
It is all over the news the world is officially going to end as of this Saturday! The Rapture is alas upon us.....whoopee!!!!!

So I was watching these people on the news talking about the coming of armageddon and there are some of them who sincerely generally absolutely beleive that this event is going to occur that the end of the world of truly going to happen. No doubt, no skepticism, but absolutely certainly.

Now of course the question is.......what happens when it does not happen?

A question which no one is willing to provide an answer to.

But I have to think, if you do with every fibre of your being, absolutely, unquestionably beleive that the world is going to end on Saturday, than when you still have to go to work come Monday morning, don't you have to seriously question your faith?

If you standing there saying God guarantees this event is going to happen, (as one woman did state that it was guaranteed by God to happen) than where does that leave you when it does not happen?

On the other side of it. Supposing the end of the world does come, I totally could get into the whole taking care of left behind pets gig.

Yes if you think talking about the end of the world occurring in a couple of days is not crazy enough, it gets even crazier.

I could not make this stuff up. So there is an organization for Christians whom are concerned about what will become of thier pets after they rapture and there is this website online in which Christians can arrange with us Heathens who don't get ruptured to look after thier pets for them. And I am totally down with that.

In fact, since you probably will not be needing any money in heaven, you can feel free to simply give me all the crash you currently possess as an advanced payment for my lifetime care for your pets.

But I am afraid it is a No refund situation. Once you have given me all your cash, and than by chance the world does not in fact end you cannot just say oops and expect me to give it back to you.

That is just the gamble you are going to have to take.

I'm down for the rapture, but I'm busy on Saturday. Why not do it on Sunday? Oh yeah, that's the Lord's day off.

Hahaha, I don't like to poke fun at anyone's religious beliefs but those guys are nutty. I happen to hear Harold Camping (the leader behind this) on the radio make this prediction about two years ago and I wrote it down and have kept that piece of paper in my car the whole time. I’ve been waiting for this date for two years now. I was thinking of writing a blog on this, but I've had such a hell of a work week I'm just too tired. Well, we’ll find out tomorrow! Of course I don’t believe it for a second. I’m more curious to find out what Camping says on Sunday when it doesn’t happen.

Maybe if they read the bible for what it directly says rather than looking through for some hidden numerological code to crack:

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

"But of that day and hour no one knows, neither the angels of heaven, nor the Son, 22 but the Father alone.
    -Matthew 24:35-36

I should say that these guys are not with any established Christian denomination. I did a bit of searching on the internet on them. In fact they denounce all churches as corrupt and preach against them. If you're interested in reading a Christian counter to this nonsense, you can read this, "Catholic scholar dismantles May 21 Judgment Day claims": http://www.catholicnewsagency.com/ne...+Daily+News%29

One more point. End of the world predictions seem to run through western culture for millennium. The latest being the Al Gore end of the world scenarios through global warming. Isn't next year the year we would have wide spread starvation and flooding from rising oceans?

I think people should leave the prediction business alone.

Hope to see you all on Sunday!
