A Lonely Traveller

A Hermit Crab Carrying a Tower

Rate this Entry

When very small,
I wondered
why you carried a tower
on your back
wherever you travelled.

Getting older,
I knew
it was your borrowed house
in a sandy beach
beside the ocean expanse.

Now
it dawns on me
we are nothing but migrating birds
without a home
taking a seasonal journey.

A sad truth presented in a simple language. The use of imagery is so befitting. Yes Angli, we must remember we are only migratory bird and have to go back one day. Thanks for this unique poem.
