The reason I am asking is I know that you are quite well read and have something to compare him to. I however, have a rather limited range. So I just wanted to check to be sure this is as good as I think it is. Haha! The writing is so good that it redeems the detestable nature of the main character, Anthony Patch as well as Fitzgerald's general conflict towards woman. Two main female characters are described as little idiots. Anyway, this book is better than This Side of Paradise, but not as good as Tender is the Night. I think Tender is the Night has more depth of emotion and more tragedy. I know how writing was often reflective of his life.
Hey Yeah I think he is excellent but I prefer Richard Yates to him - who writes about similiar themes. I love Yates' short stories. He was a very underarted writer. If u like Fitzgerald, you will love Yates.
What do yo think of Fitzgerald as a writer? I'm readiong the Beautiful and the Damned and I hate the main character, but I can't put the book down. The writing i very engaging.
I never mind a drink, it just helps to know that is why one acts this way. I myself have done it too. It's just a matter of cleaning up the mess in the morning. Thanks for stopping by the albums.
