  1. Things are good. Have managed to squeeze in a couple of poems on-line between participating in the 'real world'.
Busy this week helping with a 'Centenary Celebration' of the birth of (famous) Scots poet Norman MacCaig who spent most of his holidays locally and was inspired to write much of his finest work by the surrounding hills and coast.
Off out in an hour or so and not expecting to be back this side of midnight. A three-hour walk along Glencanisp followed by a video presentation followed by a 'Poems, Peace and Pints' event in the local pub.
Who said poetry has to be boring??
    Catch you later.
    H
  2. hey what's happening in the intriguing life of Mr Hillwalker these days? sorry I haven't been around much... seems people get a whole lot more sick during the winter months - guess Hippocrates wasn't too far off with his humors (haha i kid i kid - the humors were a joke - sigh, worst medical pun ever)
  3. haha please do send. I'll be sure to have a read.
  4. Timing spot on - thought I'd post a story of my own for a change from poetry, but it's finished up rather on the long side.
  5. why hello Mr Hill.... have you been working on anything new lately?
I've started a short story for here.
actually that reminds me... I have a question for you about it. might send it through PM.
  6. yeah, if drama doesn't sell, than at least you have sex to fall back on right? guess that's the motive behind all those medical shows these days. But oh well, I don't watch them, I have enough of the reall 'stuff' at work. speaking of work.. just got a phone call... some poor old guy has failed his trial of void (simply - hasn't pee'd since we've taken the catheter out) of all the most uncomfortable things I can think of - that would have to be in my top 20.

I know what you mean though, I would sit here reading for hours on end, without actually writing any of my own stuff. Hence why I thought I would take a page out of MANICHEAN's book and start an ongoing sort of work. 99 hits in the last couple of days, seems to be working well. Not sure if anyone is enjoying it, but at least people are taking the time to view it.
  7. I guess they missed a trick with all those Flying Doctor movies - the Writer-Doctor who can cure all your ailments and kill you a thousand different ways inside his imagination at the same time.
  8. once you've done this job for the better part of 6mnths, you come to a realization, an epiphany if you will. People are resiliant, you need to do barely jack, and they'll feel better. Some fluid here, a paracetamol there... all good as new. And never underestimate the power of a cannula... geez put one of those suckers in and everyone thinks you're a god.

But all joking aside... it has been pretty slow tonight, the docs during the day have a done a great job, and now I can sit down, read some lit and not have to worry about writing up med charts, fluid orders and cannulating old people with veins that need to be put in a vice to stop them moving. It is times like these that i love being a doctor, getting paid for just being here, 'the just in case' clause. you know... just in case the [explitive] hits the fan.
  9. Very kind of you - glad to see you are focussed on your work ;-)

The danger is of course that we spend more effort responding to posts than actually writing new stuff! Which is why I try to ration my time on here.
  10. Yeah, know what you mean. I'm sitting at work now, just chilling out, checking all the new posts... saw you were online and thought I would send a hearty HI!!!
