Hi qimi! I apologize for not replying earlier. I haven't been around for over a month, so busy that I find it hard to keep up with mails and such, and now I'm doing my best to keep up with pending replies (I don't want to seem like I have no manners ). I'm on a two-week winter break now, but just a break from classes, since I have a pile of assignments to hand in as soon as the activities restart. I'll have three phonetics courses, of which I already passed the first, and I'm taking the second on the following semester. Thanks for the link by the way. When I began learning English I became familiar with the American accent... you know, the movies, the TV shows and so on. Our classes, however, aim at the standard British accent and during the first semester I had to practice very hard in order to develop a decent British pronunciation Part 2 ->
Hi, Max. It's good to see you around again. What degree are you studying for? And when you say phonetics, do you mean something like this: http://www.ic.arizona.edu/~lsp/IPA/SSAE.html ? Does the practice of phonetics help you with English? Your pretty good at it already, aren't you? I've never read The Canterville Ghost, but I have seen a made for TV movie version of it , I believe. It's charming-but then it's by Oscar Wilde! So when is your break?
Hi qimi I thought I would give you some news Despite failing psychology, I'm doing pretty well in other classes. This week I got highest marks on English Language I... my fave class so far. I'm experiencing a little problem with phonetics, but the other day I did a phonetic transcription test on a fragment of The Canterville Ghost, and it turned out a high mark too. A few things appear to be getting a little better See you soon. Winter break is nearing, but I still have a few more exams on their way before that!
And thank you for your eager encouragement. It's indeed appreciated
Hi qimi I apologize for not replying sooner. I find it hard to find the time. I have tests to sit for almost every week, plus many assignments too. I do what I can to keep updated with the correspondence but I'm afraid there's little I can do. Being a university student is very time-consuming and I still have a whole pile of pending replies on me I had to drop Psychology. It was taking up too much time, as I needed many hours per day to memorize and "try to understand" all those intricate concepts that seem so hard to fit into my brains, and I was neglecting English Language I, Phonetics and Morphology, which are classes I seem to have some talent for and which are more critical within my studies' curriculum. So I'm planning to strike back on it at a more suitable time, maybe next year. Thanks for dropping by and asking, and for the music link which I enjoyed very much. See you soon I hope, if the studies don't kill me How have you been lately?
Hey Max, it seems like I haven't see you around in forever. How is school going for you? Are you finished? Almost finished? How did you like it? I know you're having a little trouble with psychology, but you're a smart guy and can pull it off. Yes, you can!
Max, thank you for the Mother's Day wishes. I loved it, and it made me happy. I had a good day, all in all. You are so kind. How is school? How are you? You don't seem to be on as much; I guess you are busy. Will you take classes this summer, too? Here is some music for you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tEgzGnzojc
I hope you had a nice mother's day, Qimi
Very welcome
Thanks, Max.
