Ah, great! That helped a lot. Didn't think of it as an island, and it's such a small place that I hadn't heard of it before either. So, thanks!
hi again, Hope you had a good weekend. I've done my homework and checked this island thing. Now the island is called Hedebyön and it is linked to Hedeby by a bridge. And if I understand properly, Hedeby is a village close to (or part of) Hedestad. If you'd like to look for the passage in the book in which it is first mentioned, it's at the beginning of the book, when Mikael agrees to visit Henrik Vanger to discuss the old man's job offer right after Christmas. Also if you type "Hedeby Hedestad" in google apart from reports on the Danish city of Hedeby, you will get links to the book's reviews.... So I guess that both the town and the island are imaginary places.. Hope that helped refresh your memory. Am looking forward to the second part if you say it was the best one.
Hello! Yes, please check in your book and get back to me on the island matter. I simply can't remember an island, for some reason. And yes, I read the first book and enjoyed the other two. I think the second book was the best, probably. First the second, then the first and last comes the last book, haha. They keep getting thicker and thicker, but.. they are all good, in my opinion. Have a nice weekend!
Hey there! Sorry it took so long to reply, have been quite busy in my non-litnet life ;-) With regards to your question, I remember that the story takes place in two settings. One is Stockholm and the other is the small island on which most of the Vanger family lives. I imagine that it's not a "famous/big" island more like an imaginary small island. (At the end of the day, I guess islands are not the most uncommon thing in Sweden). I have to admit though that I had a hard time with the names of the places. But I'm curious now so I'll check in my book and come back to you to see if we can spot which island it is. Have a good weekend. I saw that you gave the book a favorable opinion. Did you read the other 2? What did you think? The second one is on my bedstand... waiting... I hope to be able to pick it up soon.
I saw your review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and you referred to a small Swedish island on which the story takes place. What island was that? I've read the book, but don't remember an island.
