Happy New Year! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoaTl7IcFs8
Howdy. I'm doing well. Yes, I am a communications specialist in the Army. I'm starting to get excited about returning home. I should be back in the States in about two months. You're response on education was helpful. Those students who "resist the need to clamber over" the wall are one of the primary factors that make me want to get into education. I wasn't a great student at first, but I was lucky enough to have a few great teachers who really pushed me to try hard. I like to think that I might be able to play that role in someone's life somewhere down the road.
How's everything? What exactly is your job in the army? (you are in the army, right?) When do you get to return to the states? Also, was I at all helpful in my response about education? I hope it didn't put you off education, but gave you something to think about. You weren't required to answer, but I was wondering what you thought. Take care.
Hey djy. I think you would do well in education. Patience is a must. The analogy that pops into my head concerning education is that of climbing over a wall. Your'e on one side, knowledge on the other. Some have only a low wall to climb and they hop over it easily; others have more difficulty or even resist the need to clamber over. You get my drift. Are you willing to help those who are reluctant to do the work required, to encourage, cajole, set boundaries, provide structure, discipline, be interested, believe in them always? If so, then education might just be a career possibility for you. I've been a teacher for 14 years. Before that I stayed home with my small children (If felt very lucky to get to do that). I really enjoy teaching; it can be really draining emotionally. I really need thosed summers to regroup.
I think it is great you teach. I have nothing but respect for teachers, especially with kids these days. Wow, I must be getting old. What grade/subject do you teach? Do you enjoy it? I've been thinking a lot about what I want to do whenever I leave the Army, and education is one of the fields that keeps popping into my mind.
Yeah I'm well. I teach school,so my students and I are kind of clawing our way to the end, as is my personal child (a junior in high school). One girl wondered today why she had to do anything because they'd already taken the "test" (our state-mandated test, the TAKS). I replied "Well,we're still learning," as if it were obvious, which I guess to her it was not.Sigh.
Howdy! Sorry it took me so long to respond. I am doing well and looking forward to returning home in a few months. How are you?
Hope everything is going well for you.
gadzookery, indeed!!! Is that not one of the best words ever?
Gadzookery!
