Oh yeah I know Mohammed Abdul Halim Abdullah! My mom loves his works! There's a particular book that I was planning on reading (as soon as I find it), it's called Shagaret Al Leblab شجرة اللبلاب I don't know if that's on your list, but that's my mom's favorite. And you're right, we need to read for other writers who aren't Mahfouz. There are some really good writers now in Egypt. Ever heard of Gamal Al Ghitany And Baha' Taher? I really like their books. There's also Radwa Ashour, she's a comparative literature professor at my university (Ain Shams), she's pretty good too.
Nossa, I was wondering I found some arbic books on my shelf ( I dont very often read in arabic) my aunt bought them for me a couple of years back and I found some books by Mohammed Abdul Halim Abdullah , now do you think he would be a good idea for the Egypt read? Im trying to think of people who arent naguib mahfouz.
