Conversation Between quasimodo1 and Vintage34

  1. quasimodo1 asked "By the way, was '34 a good vintage for bordeaux?"

Not sure about bordeaux, but 1934 was a good vintage year for depression babies, because very few were produced. (Lowest birthrate per capita of any year before or since, I have heard?)
I'm not connoisseur of French wines, but I like all California varieties. Speaking of such, I just finished an excellent book, "The House of Mondavi: The Rise and Fall of an American Wine Dynasty", by Julia Flynn Siler. It's specifically about Robert Mondavi, who recently died at the age of 94. A fascinating read I thought. I recommend it.
  2. I looked back at a few of your recent posts, and especially enjoyed House by the Sea, by Jonathan Galassi I'm not as familiar with twentieth century poets as I would like to be, so his collection Noons and Shadows, looks like a good place to start.
I also took note of a comment you made to another member - "A posting is sometimes like an insult...you can't take it back". I hope you don't mind if I quote you on that?
  3. Vintage34: I'm with you regarding the types of poetry you appreciate; I'm date-stamped as well. Be well. quasimodo1
