So, did it only take a year to get fluent in Arabic? I am trying to study Chinese, and it's going to take forever. I know a little Spanish, as I taught English as a Second language for several years. I can't speak it, but I can read it on a very limited, elementary level. I'm sure you had to study it for hours a day. Was it an immersion type program? Any suggestions for how to proceed?
Still a smart cookie...but it's possible I've grown a little crumbly around the edges. I'm in the U.S. Army. I've been studying Arabic at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey for over a year--now, I am going to a base in Georgia to train for my actual job, which is Satellite Communication Systems Operator. I'm not entirely sure what that entails, but I'm pretty sure it has something to do with satellites. Smart cookie indeed!

I just found out, though, that I will be leaving beautiful Monterey, California and heading back to Georgia in a few weeks. Universal sadness abounds. I hope things are going well with you.
