  1. I'm tickled for you.
  2. Yes, he was in the hospital all last week. We didn't get to see him at all. He had what came through the translation laryngitis and coughing. But no fever. I guess his throat is very swollen. We are told they send babies to the hospital here for a lot less than we would back home. Nonetheless we were very concerned. He was still congested today but he was back and we finally got to see him. What a little doll today!
  3. WhHappy memorial day to you and pussnboots, virgil. I hope things are going well. What's this about a hospital? I'm grading papers and relaxing. My computer has a terrible virus, though. Not sure wht to do about that yet. Take care.
  4. Yes, the essay is an art form, and I dearly love a well-written essay. It's obvious you put a lot of care into yours. They are not my cup of tea to write, obviously, but I like reading them. I love my Norton Reader.

It's cool tonight, in the 60's. It rained a little earlier. It's going to be in the 90's later in the week, so the weatherman said. I'd like it to stay cool for awhile. I love warmer weather, but I dread it when it gets sweltering.
  5. Thanks Qimi. Not sure if it's gotten better. I really haven't written too much poetry lately. I've been concentrating on my prose with my blogs. I consider them a variety of the personal essay, which is an art form in itself.

I like winning. But it's not a big driver in my writing. And i always worry about my writing, win or lose. I love the act of writing. There is something magical about it, and I love our dear English language. I love appreciating a good writer and i love trying to give it a crack myself.

How's the weather over by you? It's been sweltering here the last few days, and they didn't put the air conditioning on at work. That's ok, I held back from putting it on at home too (I can be cheap ), but today my wife said she put it on when I was at work. Figures.
  6. Whoa, Virgil, I just read your poem for the minimalist poetry contest, Partners, and it is awesome! Maybe it's my imagination, but your poetry seems to have taken a great leap and is much more evocative and looser.

How did it feel to win the minimalist contest awhile back? I so well remember when you would enter a contest, and when you did not win you would worry over your poem, or if not worry then examine and re-examine and question. All that attention seems to have paid off.
  7. Oh yeah. I keep forgetting. I want to update my adoption situation in a blog first. And then I'll go to that.
  8. Don't forget the Minimalist Poetry Contest. I've got to do the Form Poem contest later today, myself.
  9. Oh I haven't heard that song in years. How perfect. Thank you Qimi.

We still haven't gotten our visa. When i first blogged I had said this week. As of last week we thought next week. Now that doesn't look likely either. We're playing it day by day. It's driving us nuts. I need to blog about it. I was waiting until we got a definite travel date. I will have to update everyone by this weekend whether we hear or not. Thank you for being such a friend.
  10. Hey Virgil, here's a song for you and Pussnboots. Do you know exactly when you guys are leaving? I'm assuming that your plans have not changed or been changed for you (fingers crossed).
