  1. Anatomy of a Scam

by , 08-18-2024 at 08:56 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
When I first heard of Bitcoin, I called it “tulip bulbs”, referring to the financial balloon in trading tulip bulbs in the Netherlands in the 1630's. The top of the market was something like 2500 guildhall, but they came back to earth. It doesn't bother me, if people want to thrown money away, but one of the a reasons for government to exist is to stop some people from throwing their money to people who are engaging in fraud.

Unfortunately, the U.S. Government has allowed many people ...
  2. Marketing Hype

Yesterday afternoon, I had an interesting conversation with a recent college graduate. I was surprised that he didn’t realize that marketing fluff had taken him in as much as it had. It all started because his so-called “smart phone” wasn’t working, but my cheap flip-phone was, so I told him the time, and he and I were waiting for the same bus (which was disgustingly late and, even worse, we got on the wrong bus, but that’s another story.)

  3. Clearer Constitution

I was thinking abut the Supreme Court decision regarding presidential immunity. Since reading comprehension has deteriorated so much, it might be a good idea to rewrite the Constitution is seven simpler terms. I fend ...
  4. The Illusion of Time

by , 06-15-2024 at 09:01 PM (Memories of the 28th Century)
I recently ran into the theory that time is an illusion, yet again. I have been seeing and hearing that idea for years, but the people who express that notion have not yet managed to get that concept to be reflected in observable reality. Or, they can claim that time is an illusion all they want, but until I look outside and watch events that occurred a few thousand years ago as they take place, I will have my doubts. I understand how watching old light allows one to observe what happened a very ...
  5. Bull Moose

As I sat outside for a few minutes, the question of who I should vote for for president this came to mind. No thinking person can vote for Trump, and there are major problems with the programs that Biden has pushed, and his support of Israel is enough, by it self, to drive me away. In the past I have voted for the Libertarian candidate, and I still my. But a few days ago, I read an article about Teddy Roosevelt, and I was positively impressed by the time someone shot him twice in the chest during ...
